  • As I said earlier every RE game has a great soundtrack and RE 5 is not an exception. And I don't think that CVX OST is overatted, it's just the best of THE BEST.

If you guys watch the making of RE 5 you'll realize that Capcom put a lot of effort to make the best RE game in terms of quality.

i did watch it, but it's not that they put no effort, it's that the music is more suited for an action game than a horror game.

the music kinda pumps you up for the explosions more than it earily hangs in the back ground terrifying you of what's up ahead.

      and i disagree about CVX.

i think RE1/Remake has the best overall sound track. Outbreak has the best opening theme followed closely by RE0. RE3 has the best ending theme followed closely by Remake. and RE2's RPD theme is great. and the gaurd house music is just pure epicness.

Sorry but the soundtrack has some horror tracks like: A New Fear, Flying Nightmare, The Voice Of Darkness, Unidentified Threat, Executioner, Haze Of Horror, Eerie Stillness, A New Nightmare Begins etc.

The greatest thing about the RE 5 soundtrack is that it has so many levels. It's scary, epic, dramatic all in one package.

yes there were a few diamonds in the rough, but like i said 90% wasn't in my opinion suited for horror.

the sound track was ok but it's my least favorite.

i think the following music is a lot better than anything in RE5.

              RE0's ending theme

              Remake's save room music

              RE2's prologue

              RE2's save theme

              RE3's save theme

              RE3's city streets

              RE0's save theme

              RPD main hall

              Nemesis's theme

              RE3's option screen

              RE3's free from fear

              RE3's epic ending theme

              Remake's epic ending theme

and my personal favorite Outbreaks opening theme

and there is so much more too, i love the music in the classics a whole lot better.

              • Luckily that's just your opinion.

Wind of Madness is the most epic track in the series in terms of sheer scope and scale.

Well then, the soundtrack fits the gameplay style pretty well, now doesn't it?

                    • That said, I did like RE3's militaristic soundtrack.

Interestingely enough, though, you didn't post anything from RE4.

I think RE4's soundtrack served its purpose for setting a certain mood, but there was very little structure and melody in most of the tracks, more of a creepy ambient noise kind of approuch. Only a couple of tracks stood out in my opinion, like:

End credits theme, while also telling the story of how the happy villagers got fucked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CzkO...eature=related
Safe room theme was extremely soothing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsVA3...eature=related

Agreeing that RE2's soundtrack was amazing, especially for its time. RECV did a great job at making reaccuring themes in the tracks, and it really helped tell the story. I think it deserves more love:

Suspended doll was amazingly creepy, given the buildup before entering that mansion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H68HLLujICQ
Alexia preparing to rape Chris and Claire, 30 seconds in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aQxv...eature=related
Don't know the name of the actual track, but the music when Alfred and Alexia reunite. Epic scene overall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcnixydHgrQ

While I don't think RE5 surpassed everything from the entire series in terms of music, it definately surpassed RE4 by a clear mile.

                            • A track I've always overlooked, after listening to the CVX soundtrack earlier today, is "Through the Scope". I never really listened to it before but it's a brilliant song.

But yeah, RE5 > RE4. I didn't listen to any tracks from RE4, they all bored me. Pray is a brilliant song and really sets the mood for RE5 and it works so well with the story. That song alone outclasses RE4's soundtrack by a mile.

                              • Wind Of Madness is indeed brilliant, but my favourite track has to be "Majini III", it really captures the moment when you encounter that blonde chick whose head pops off and reveals the first parasite in the game, as well as the first encounter with the dogs. Very atmospheric tune, and it was used in one of the last trailers too. Practically all of the music found in the trailers are amazing. They really outdid themselves with this game.

I also liked the remix of the "Mercenaries theme".
