Its unclear what they mean by that, but one can only hope it means returning to the roots!

I don't know... in Wesker's report he had Sherry. They completely didn't even acknowledge that. All im saying is it could be a lot more creative than *insert random 90s action movie* where the terrorists are trying to take over the world.
As for "terrorist trying to take over the world" thing...yes, it is redundant, but that's the plot of many things nowadays. I felt Wesker's M.O. was at least better than Saddler's "Pinky & the Brain" plan.
I just played Gears of RE. Not Resident Evil. RE4 was a fun game, but it was an anomaly and an experiment in the RE game style and it should have stayed that way.
Why wouldn't you want to play with them? There is no reason not to have them in the game. I don't understand your argument here.
And I wouldn't want to play as Leon. I never want to again after his douchebaggery in RE4.
Why should there be a trade off at all? Just give the fans what they want for buying the damn game and include all the characters.
As for your sentiments about HUNK - I think he is awesome as well. I'd have loved to see him in RE5 Mercs, but he isn't there. So I just accepted it.
And I definitely don't think that was the scariest moment of RE history.
Hells yeah. Its what they should be trying to emulate with a fresh new RE6! Hopefully they can take the story back to the time between code veronica and the events in Umbrella Chronicles and have the anti-umbrella team raid some labs in other parts of the world.
Plus there's the whole fact that I never want to see Leon again. Ever.

It's a very polished and visually stunning action game. A co-op game first and foremost, with the Resident Evil name and characters slapped on top of it. An iteration in the series that is targeted mainly at the Halo generation, with almost no regard for the fans of the "original" Resident Evil. With Wesker's over the top English accent (where the f**k did this come from) I don't know whether to laugh or cry, and I have no idea why Jill's hair is suddenly blonde.
It's starting to feel like a chore going through the game for the unlockables, as there are a ton of areas that completely lack any "survival horror" or anything even remotely scary at all. Puzzles have totally vanished, as is any challenge that would throw your average 18 year old ADHD afflicted Gears of War clone off. The only thing that felt "Resident Evil" for me were the menu sound effects and when you press the start button.
With that said, I put the game down for a bit, and I'm starting up RE2 save on my PS3.

Jill's hair color is explained in RE5. But feel free to just blatantly use it as a negative.
All the other "changes" you don't like are a result of the tweaks (?) made by Shinji Mikami in RE4. Since that game, RE is not much at all like its earlier iterations.

I never noticed it before, really. Especially how heavy it's gotten.
I still don't like it, bad choice in the script.
RE4 at least put a little effort into the scare factor though. RE was clearly dead when it came out, but there were twinkles of RE, even through the tears playing it. I put that game behind though, maybe I was hoping for a miracle return to RE with part 5.
Not to mention the fact that RE5 cleared up the ridiculous mess RE4 left behind, which I must commend the development team for paying careful attention to when developing the game.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

This is what that moment should have had me thinking:
"WTF? Jill? A villain? THIS IS CRAZY!!"
This is what it actually made me think:
"Wait, who is that? Is that really Jill? No, it cant be... she doesn't have blonde hair. Oh wait, Chris just said Jill. Wow, thats kind of dumb, why is she blonde?"
See what I mean?Last edited by TheOvermind001; 03-22-2009, 02:50 AM.
