  • How long did it take you to finish Resident Evil 5? NO SPOILERS

I've heard some truly ridiculous completion times, ranging from 7 hours to 18 hours and every minute in between. For those that have completed Resident Evil 5:

    How long did it take?
Did you play Co-op or Solo?
What difficulty was the game set on?

around 8-ish hours on single player at normal difficulty.

      Gah.

These completion times seem really low compared to RE4...

It's not even that. 8 hours to complete a game is not a lot. I was expecting a lot more playing time out of RE5. Oh well. The first time I play it, I'll be enjoying every little detail...scavenging every area possible, looking for EVERY file and item, leaving no stone unturned. Hopefully this will draw the game out a bit, because most indications are that the game is relatively short.

4/6 done, ~7 hours. Veteran, of course. But I've got this perfectionist streak. No running away. Must gun down every damn enemy I can, specifically semi-bosses of the chainsaw calibre. Oh, single player. Sheva's AI is pretty useless, to be very honest. I cart round every single decent gun because she either doesn't use them, or uses them on my back. I load her up with herbs and let her worry about fixing me up when I do something stupid.

If you set her to Attack mode she'll use her stronger guns.

I'll be doing the same; playing on Veteran mode and exploring to nigh unnecessary amounts to help pad out the length of the game. I think RE4 did raise the standard too high in terms of game length; it took me almost exactly 20 hours to finish on my first playthrough and I'm going to be disappointed if RE5 is shorter than 15... and it looks like it will be. : (

I want to start on the easiest difficulty and work my way up. I think starting on the hardest would make future playthroughs go even faster.

NO YOU'RE WRONG! Normal, then easy, then hard, then harder.

Way back when RE4 first came out on the GameCube, it took me over 23 hours to beat it the first time. I have a feeling it will take just as long for me to complete RE5, because like a lot of you here, I will be taking my sweet old time with the game. There's nothing like playing through a game the first time!

I'll make sure to log the exact time it takes me to complete RE5 though. It if takes less than 20 hours, I'll be damn impressed with myself. I'll obviously be starting with "Normal" mode, as I always do.

I hear ya, it's gonna be a long time before we get our hands on another RE game so there's no need to rush. Hell, I'll even go to the main menu and take my time reading files in between saves lol. Gazing around at the scenery like, "wow, this is finally it."

It took me 10+ hrs, but that's not counting the death I have. (I died a lot of time...)

Good, RE4 was ridiculous and you can easily remove the castle part to make a more enjoyable experience.

No way, the castle was the best part of the game. Verdugo, Garradors, the hedge maze, the mine cart ride, playing as Ashley, fighting the novistadors, plus the cultists were the coolest groups of enemies in the game. I love the castle.
