    this.

RE5 may be shorter, but each new area is completely different from the last one and there is no forced backtracking or padding in with area's with nothing happening in them.

The game is very enjoyable and you won't get bored of the medium length.

It took me 10½ hours to beat it on the first time on normal and 2nd time 7-8hours. And yeah, i hated that fucking long ass castle part in RE4 too. It's nice too see that the environment changes a lot in RE5.

I don't mind that it's short, as long as it's exciting all the way through. You can tell when a game is too long, because it drags.

And the whole co-op factor only increases the replayability.

I agree. I don't really care for the village parts of the game, but the castle is probably the best part of the game. The ganados are more creepier, and the castle actually has a lot of interesting areas, including the recycled knight statues from 3.5.

RE4 may have been long, but it was unnecessarily so. After awhile the rooms & enemies became VERY redundant. Plus, the story sucked ass.

I had fun the first playthrough, but only replayed the entire thing one more time after that.

I'd rather have replayability (or fun-factor, whatever you want to call it) in my game that keeps me coming back to it.

A medium-sized main mission, playable alone or cooperatively, through varied set pieces, is infinitely more appealing than a longer single player experience where you:

            - Run from stone statues
            - Fight S&M clad Ogres in lava rooms
            - Run up walls to flip over lasers
            - Shoot guys mounted on mobile stone dragons that spew fire from their mouths
            - Run around trying to find a dumbo-eared harlot who gets kidnapped again AND again (just how many times can she be kidnapped?!)

sounds like a "top 10 reasons Leon is so awesome" article :

Haha - if that's the case, I could list 100 reasons why he's "so awesome."

It took John (Dot50) probably nearly around 12-14 hours for his first playthrough. We got in around 2-3 hours yesterday, then today we started around 1pm and finished at around 1am tonight, but there were some deaths, setbacks, and a couple breaks that I am unsure of overall time. But I'd say 10-15 hours will probably be right if you kill all enemies, explore a lot, and read all the files ingame for an average playthrough. 8-10 if you're good and aren't nitpicky about killing everything and stuff.

11:38, I took my time and explored pretty much everywhere.

Me and my friend(CubedSphere) have over 20+ hours into the game, we have read the files and now are going back and enjoying up grading guns and trying diffrent weapons out on diffrent badguys, we have beaten the first and second difficulty and are going back on the easiest trying to get all S rankings.

I'm having alot of fun with it and could care less if its less length of game play then 4 and if anyone is worried about that don't be there is so much to take in even on multiple play throughs even down to how the guns sound diffrent and how the hit detection for each fun effacts a enemy. ps fav gun at the moment is the HK P8 (closest thing to Leons HK MK23.)"for those who said they wanted his gun."

It took me about 14 hours on my first play...
That was on normal and I really took my time. Whenever I wasn't getting attacked, I was wandering around and looking at the scenery like a tourist. I also hung around to kill everything before moving on.
I was surprised that I got all 'A' ranks and even a couple of 'S' ranks still. My time was usually a 'C' which knocked the overall rank down (not that any of that stuff matters on the first go)...

Edit: I noticed on chapter select that my original time was 13.05 not 14. But yeah, I couldn't have taken longer if I tried. I think about 10-11 hours would be more common .Unless you're virtually trying to take a long time (like I was).

I cleared it in about 10 hours first playthrough on Normal, and I also always got a C in cleartime on most chapters. I think I cleared RE4 in about 22 hours first playthrough (and I loved the castle bit, jerks).

Strangely, even though it was much shorter, I felt very satisfied when the game was complete. The length isn't really a problem.

EDIT: Just checked and first playthrough was actually 11:54, not 10. That's doing things like spending 10 minutes trying to decipher those wall paintings/hieroglyphs in the ruins.

It took me 12 hours to finish the game on normal, I pretty much explored everything in the game.
