I picked up the first issue of the new resident evil comic today, and as expected it was nothing too special. The artwork is "ok", the story is pretty random and chris redfield isn't even mentioned in the book. I still don't see why they waited until the day before the game is released to put out the first issue of a prequel comic. I mean, I could understand if there were major spoilers but so far the story doesn't really have anything to do with anything, other than the BSAA. I do give it props for Holiday's sweet facial hair lol.

It looks like total crap from some horrible Jim Lee wannabee protege. As if Jim Lee's art itself wasn't horrible enough, he has to hire lessers. Wildstorm sucks, I hate that they get videogame licenses.
Then again, I loved the Ashley Wood Metal Gear Comic and the shops around here couldn't sell this to anyone but me, no matter how hard they tried.Last edited by The_15th; 03-11-2009, 06:30 PM.

Money I suppose...greedy bastards.
Holiday Sugarman? As Spotswoode said emphatically: "Jesus titty fucking Christ."
So, REmaster, after the horrible issue you picked up, will you be purchasing the remaining comics?

Unfortunatly I will, just because I'm an avid Resident Evil collector. No matter how crappy they are, I've learned over the past several years to buy them while their still $3.99 so I don't have to buy them on ebay for $40.00 a few years later
Plus I'm also curious as to if they'll even bother to put Chris in future issues, since it is his "Dark Burden".Last edited by REmaster; 03-11-2009, 11:41 PM."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

I can't believe it! The promotion of the comics hasn't just been misleading, it's been a complete LIE!!! That is some seriously devious deception and false advertising!
Surely there must be at least a mention of Chris somewhere in there? Maybe in the last issue?
I'm really shocked that the first page says that!
But I'm the same as you, REmaster. It's only $4 and it's still a RE collectible. Even the other old, crap Wildstorm RE comics are now pretty expensive. It's best to grab them all as they get released.
Btw, my theory of those agents being Barry and Claire has been squashed. Unless it's still them but they're using their 'Porno Names'.

I'm used to spending all my money on Resident Evil anyways, even if it's crap. Hell, I have to buy another wii now because "The Darkside Chronicles", which looks to be the RE2 remake we've all be waiting for is a wii exsclusive. I just sold mine a few months ago because I thought UC was "ok" and I'm not a big fan of the wii. I thought to myself, well, I'll just keep UC and add it to the collection, then sell the wii since RE5 will probably be the last game to interest me. Well, look who's kicking their own asswith a BSAA agent fighting a licker in spaceLast edited by REmaster; 03-12-2009, 03:03 PM."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

Picked it up today. Here's a summary for anybody interested:
Spoiler:
"One if by Land, Two if by Space"
Starts off with a call to the president about bio-weapon research and requests the BSAA's help. Mina was in a space program, used to be a marine, her story takes place IN space, at a space station. She was sent in to the space station because after a routine inspection they had no response.
She runs into a Licker! (FUCK YEAH) In true comic fashion, she grabs its tongue and beheads it.
Meanwhile in Grezbekistan, the Alpha and Bravo BSAA team are dropping in after a downed satellite that had viral stuff aboard - they're sent in to find it and take care of any contamination. The choppers get downed by rockets (apparently from the local militia since they mention them not seeing the BSAA as an authority so to consider them hostiles? I THINK?) Infected people in the area, shooting time. Briefing and most of the talking here done by Holiday.
Back in the space station, Mina is killing infected people. I should note here that she says the person is infected with the T-Virus. She gets orders to look at the computer system. Talk about a researcher exposing "Cnidaria" samples to the T-Virus. You can't see the whole computer screen but you can read the following:
"The last G-Virus sample, specimen G-34987-q, is one of the tests aboard the exposures satellite. The effects of cosmic radiation on virus samples have been unpredictable. Some of the samples were killed by the radiation, others seem to have mutated, while others seemed unaffected. The T-Virus has been especially unpredictable. I will be introducing one of the mutated strands to the Hydridae samples this afternoon.
7-Hydridae
: Cat 4387-a Hydridae
cs: Member of Cnidaria
minescent
lticellular organism.
sive regenerative
ability. Retarded senescence. Natur
fense mechanisms
include neurotoxic nematocysts.
Viral Effects On Subject: Unknown"
Basically they confirms there are two satellites somewhere with a sample on board - I'm assuming one is the downed one the BSAA people at Grezbekistan are running into. Another satellite still in orbit has a G sample on it. And they want to go intercept it. Something attacks Mina and when she runs into it. It's like this huge ... globby thing with zombies in it or something.
Meanwhile with Holiday, tyrant comes, HQ tells them lol no we are not evacuating until you find that god damned satellite. Holiday sees the tyrant is like "o fuck."
TO BE CONTINUED.
Overall it's ... an RE comic so it's nothing amazing, I just wanted to check it out for myself, and see if maybe in the future issues they bother tying it in to RE5 at all, aside from the BSAA thing.

The comic is not as stupid or ridiculous as I feared. I thought it was okay...
One thing though, there's only 22 pages of comic and 13 pages of advertisements!
even the first page in the comic says this whole story is an original non-canon story by wildstorm and has nothing to do with the Resident Evil series by Capcom.
I've just got the regular version but the alternate cover version is also getting sent to me.

My version dosn't have this disclaimer. Where did you read this?
