Are those virals canon?

without going into details, no they're not canon because RE5's ending doesn't leave anything for chris to go mental over.

hell chris doesn't stay in kijuju beyond the first 2 chapters, after that it's completely unrelated and different area's : tribal location > industrial area > caves > labs.

Nah thankfully the ending confirms Chris is very much happy, finally not questioning himself anymore whether it's all worth fighting for. He very much knows it's worth it, and will no doubt continue.

1. Jill's not there because perhaps Chris wanted her to lay low from now on after being experimented on for over a year. Remember she is very valuable seeing as the T-Virus is dormant in her body after being injected with in RE3. So keeping her dead and not in the public eye would be keen.

2.Unless when after Wesker is killed, saves both Jill and Sheva, he somehow becomes delusional seeing as he doesn't have to fight anymore. Seeing as Wesker was his rival, he is a shell of his former self because Wesker and Chris were 2 sides of the same coin.

3. They are partners till the end, they are still working for the BSAA and I'm guessing Sheva is there to guide Chris much like in Kijuju, Africa. You can argue when Jill says "take care of him" in the ancient ruins that ment after this was all over as well

The viral videos have nothing to do with the Resident Evil canon. Why? Well, they take place post-Kijuju, so...

Chris receives an award. How nice. He saved the world from being turned into giant leach-monsters with orange pimples. This was overall pretty 'meh' and at the same time...probably the 'best' viral video they released...but this was the beginning of the whole 'Chris is a mental cripple' angle, and considering the ending of RE5, this just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Chris is on a date with some asian broad. But...why? I mean, Jill's alive. There's no secret that him and Jill share something special. Yeah, they're partners and they have a 'professional' relationship, but so what. There's no hiding the fact that they have feelings for each other, friendly or not. Plus, she was presumed dead for two years...wouldn't he want to spend time with her? He was so wrapped up with her death, so disturbed by it, so determined to find out the truth...for TWO LONG YEARS...and then all of a sudden, she's alive, his life is back...and he's gonna go out on dates with Chinese chicks? Come on.

Training with Claire...fair enough. Without bringing into consideration that Claire is now a babysitter desk-jockey instead of being out there on the front lines like Chris, Jill and even Leon, so her appearance in that video, training with guns with Chris, is questionable. Again though, the fault here is Chris being disturbed. What the hell is he so upset about, seriously? Stupid.

Chris takes a bath. How lovely. He's speaking into a recorder about how once an image is burned into your mind it's impossible to get it out, or whatever. What image, exactly? Excella's giant titties? Jill's camel-toe in that spandex suit she wore? Irving's ugly-ass face? Again, it doesn't make sense. WHAT THE HELL IS HE SO GODDAMN UPSET ABOUT?! WHY IS HE SO DISTURBED? He got a happy fucking ending.

In RE5, did Chris Redfield...
A. Save the world.
B. Defeat his nemesis.
C. Save his partner/girlfriend after finding out she was actually alive.
D. All of the above.



Also, in this video, it seems that he and Sheva are partners still, even after finding out that Jill is alive.
Two things wrong with this:
1. Chris is with the BSAA North America Branch...Sheva works out of West Africa. Why would they still be partners?
2. Jill is Chris's partner, not Sheva. Sheva was a replacement. As much as Jill was nothing but a shitty plot device in RE5, the fact is, Chris and Jill are STILL Chris and goddamn Jill(that is unless Jill has now joined Claire in the realm of desk-jockeys and aid-workers).

Regardless, Chris and Jill are partners forever. Sheva has Josh. Those two can be partners. Chris has Jill. Fuck off.

TL;DR: No. The viral videos aren't canon. They're pieces of shit, made just for advertising.

The virals aren't canon. Which is sad. Chris is going to go through yet another incident that really should cause permanent mental scaring with nothing but even more determination to make the world a better place and kill more monsters. Honestly? I'd rather have seen the cost of doing this sort of thing. People go nuts during regular battles against normal people, let alone hideous monsters created from innocent victims.

The events we know Chris has been through must be hideously stressful and very disturbing. Knowing that you're cut off, alone, out numbered a hundred to one at best and with no easy support or evacuation should things go tits up. Worse, death isn't even the worst option. You could be turned into a monster yourself. You could be become a flesh eating beast that would prey on friends and blood as happily as anything else, or a freak under the control of something else, your skills and abilities placed in the hands of a madman.

Now tell me...how many folks think thatb situation isn't gonna leave some permanent mental scaring, rather than just a determination to rid the world of Bio-Weapons? Meh. I'd like to see it, but...it's never gonna happen. Chris might be one of the most normal of the characters but he's still super human.

In seriousness, I agree with you. The horrors witnessed should have some serious affect on the mentality of these heroes and heroines. I did like the attempt by Capcom to make Chris seem weary/jaded at the outset of RE5. At least there was some sort of toll taken on him by the long years he'd struggled.
