Excella is Italian, Sheva was uprooted from Africa to America. All this is in the files on the game.

Also, I was blown away by D.C. Douglas' acting. I was NOT expecting him to embody Wesker with such skill and talent. He even surpasses Waugh as my favorite Wesker now.

Yes. Ever met someone from Africa who speaks English (specifically South Africa)?

but if she spent most of her life in the US, shouldn't she have adopted the american accent ?

Do you really think someone could lost their native accent after living somewhere else for about 7ish years?

I second that - I love that line. I am normally impatient, but I'll sit through Josh's Mercs spiel just so I can hear that line!!!

I liked the Palpatine twist that Adam D. Clark added to Spencer's voice, in particular the line: "Of them, only one survived...YOU." - His facial expression at that moment even looks a little like Ian McDiarmid, or even Peter Cushing at a stretch. I still like to think he was British, afterall he was a "Sir" and Spencer is a very British surname. Ozwell is even a misspelling of "Oswell", which is an actual English first name.

^Which would further the thought that a lot of British characters in most fiction are evil.

I think what's most ironic is that--if this really is the last time we get to see Chris, Jill, Wesker together in a game--that Capcom finally found the perfect voice fits for the characters. Chris was an absolute all star, and makes any of his other incarnations seem ridiculous, even the remake(anyone else find it strange how he sounds and looks older in the remake, yet *teen hearthrobish* in code Veronica?). As far as DC Dougless--he is Wesker now. Plain and simple. He brought the one thing that the Wesker voice really lacked--emotive range. I honestly find it hard to imagine Richard Waugh speaking or saying the same lines and having the same effect Douglass manages to apply.

And Jill, while a bit rough kinda voice than what we're used too(previously I thought the remake was the best version of her as far as VA), she did an awesome job giving Jill that sense of strong will and strength that's a trademark to that character, and to me, that's Jill. Rough, but sexy, lol.

I loved all the voice work actually, but I guess what baffles me is how the Wesker/Jill voice actors sucked SO BAD in Umbrella Chronicles, and yet, wowed in RE5. I mean, I suppose Douglass was more or less trying to imitate Waugh's Wesker, which left zero personality to Wesker. And Jill, as many have noted, sounded like a pubescent boy or something. My guess is--they didn't really get paid much for the work, since everything about Umbrella Chronicles wrecked low-budget.

But kudos to them for proving their worth; cause now as far as I'm concerned, they should *be* the standard voice actors like Alyson Court for Clarie, and the new Leon, along with hopefully, if Ada ever pops up in a proper game again, Sally Cahill, because that soundalike in UC will simply NOT do.

That's one thing that's always irked me about Resident Evil. There never has been a consistency between character VA's. But Capcom hit the jackpot this time, no doubt about it.

I agree with all of this. I cannot understand how D.C. Douglas changed so much from U.C. Wesker to RE5 Wesker. It's astonishing to me still. I'm just really happy that he and Capcom listened to the fans and got the BEST Wesker performance EVER.

Good voice direction tends to help, so does a better script, which RE5 definitely had. Plus, I think Douglas really practised with Wesker's voice a hell of a lot, you can sort of tell he put a lot of effort into it.

I was happy with the VA with every character. Sheva could be annoying sometimes but the emotion in all the actor's voices fit perfectly. How about Wesker telling Chris "I'm just getting started."

i was really amazed on how when the voice comes out the character's mouth and the way the lips and tounge moved perfectly with the words. I like when chris says Jill's name and how he like "flicks" his tounge. Now thats work that really paid off. Its not easy making a character do that, i mean just making them blink their eye is a whole another program running.
