Professional with AI partner = trash...

Couldn't even get through the first stage..... one hit puts Chris on dying status, and Sheva took too long to ressucitate me.

Yes, I'm a bad bad player.

To be fair, I found the first big fight, the one with the executioner, one of the hardest bits when playing pro. I was playing with normal weapons though.

I was playing co-op and beat Ndesu first try on Pro; came real close to death though. He's not a great boss, but I enjoy fighting him; just wish it wasn't a completely turret-based battle; a mix of on-foot action and turret action like Irving would have been great.

          This thread is funny.

I can't wait to try this. I havn't even started my PRO run. Since finishing the game on 'normal' I've just been taking my time...
I played through on easy (it's too easy and kills some of the fun) to find all the emblems and get all 'S' ranks, I've been powering up all my guns and since getting the guide, I realized I also have to find all the treasures. I'm about to start on 'Veteran'.

The Ndesu (Gigante) fight is really out of place within RE5 IMO. It's quite bizarre... I even suspect that it was tacked on, late in the game, just so they could use it in trailers and promotions.
You are warped into the area, then glued to a turret, then warped out of the area when the fight is done. There is no walking around the giant corpse or exploring the area. The whole section just comes then goes, like an area of UC.
The Gigantes in RE4 were actually there. You fight one in an arena, another in a narrow canyon, dropping rocks on his head as he chases you, smashing down doors and huts, and later fight 2 at once in the lava pit area. There were many ways you could go about those encounters.
The RE5 Ndesu fight had the illusion of a new area, as it was really just a background picture... The same goes for all the encounters with the dirt bikes; You are either glued to a turret or just press a few buttons in QTEs. You never actually interact with them in the 'real' free roam part of the game.

I like RE5 but those are 2 examples that illustrate it was a more linear game than RE4 (as well as being a much shorter game).

I have to agree that the Ndesu fight really sucks design wise. Compaired to most games, one thing RE4 did brilliantly was give the impression that the bosses were relatively smart and capable and actually did all in their power to kill you, giving you the illusion that you were awesome for surviving. El Gigante was a great example, since they were always busy in those fights. Mendez, Verdugo and "It" were also good in that way. All Ndesu's capable of utterly destroying is the 4th wall.

First of all, you're sitting in a stationary humvee. He could just walk up and flip it over like he did in the cutscene. But no, he strolls around looking for things to very occasionally throw and miss you with. Not only that, but for most of the fight you're unloading two high caliber machine guns into his face, while he looks at you with his rapeface expression until one bullet causes an extra amount of pain for some reason and he stumbles back out of harms way again. Not to mention the Majini that pop out in unison every few moments like something out of an arcade game just to make sure that 4th wall is well and truly vanquished.

They could've easily designed that fight to be more interesting, like having Dave live for 5 more minutes so he could drive the humvee in circles while you shot at him or something.

            /end rant

And if you think Ndesu will make you want to break your TV with your controller, wait til you get to the 2 vs 2 fight with AI partner. Fuck that. Everyone went through RE5 getting frustrated with the AI from time to time, but that fight... My voice is still raspy cursing Sheva's name.

The Jill/Wesker fight didn't give me any problem, except for when I had to restrain Jill. Though me and ChrisRedfield29 eventually got there.

Dexterity, my friend. Some people can pull of some amazing things that both you and I just aren't capable of. I don't know if we'll ever understand it. Of course, it also sometimes comes down to luck. When I finally beat him, I barely lost any health. I just hit the sweet spot with Majini's spawning in at the right time to take them out without fucking around with Ndesu.

But really, what I'm trying to say is..You're getting old John.

I have yet to play pro yet and after reading this thread don't know if I want to yet. Ndesu was a bitch on veteran, I can only imagine pro.

I haven't fought Ndesu yet (my friend carried on with someone else so I missed a chapter and a half) but it does sound like the fight could've been more interactive. He could've been added into the driving part so he's chasing you before you get to the actual fight. *shrug* I'll have an actual opinion around Tuesday/Wednesday.

I fought Ndesu on Pro about 7 times before actually defeating him. It's not too difficult, you just have to know what set pattern he follows. In co-op it'd probably be easy getting an S rank. Every move he does can be avoided, it's just annoying when you have to shoot the Majini and then Sheva decides to sit like a retard not shooting Ndesu, then you get bitch slapped.
