  • William Birkin was ni Resident Evil? (2002 Film)

    I was Googling Jason Issacs...

Known for: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Patriot, The Death of Stalin

And I spotted "Resident Evil" in his list of work, and it said he played the narrator, and Doctor William Birkin. Although I haven't seen that phail of a movie in a long time...(Although the Lickers were cool) I don't recall Birkin, OR a narrator in the movie. The only unaccounted place I can think of is in the lab in the intro... Other than that, I don't think he was in the movie.

Can anyone shed a little light on this?

Jason Isaacs, an underrated treasure of Liverpool.
    See you in hell.

You hear his voice twice - as the narrator in the intro telling you about Umbrella... "one out of every..." - and as what was supposed to be William Birkin at the end... "I want him in the Nemesis program"

Really?! ****! Was Sony high when they approved this film to be made? George Romerro's version wasn't perfect, but it was very good. ...At least compared to this. Really, Nemesis was "Born" in Europe, and judging by his intellect, (Even comparing to T-104) he was worked on for a long fucking time. One day. Shit.

I'm sorry, but the RE movies really get me to pick out random stupidity from the trilogy. I hope they sequel Degeneration, at least.

Why would Sony care whether or not a movie they approve fits the story of a game series they don't own or have involvement in?

And really. Wesker's Report 2 wasn't even out when the first movie came out. Before then Nemesis had little to no backstory. >_>

If, in some alternate universe, Romero's movie came out, all other things equal, people would still bitch about stuff like Barry being black, Chris not being in STARS, Ada's appearance, the extra STARS members... Hell, they'd probably complain more because it's supposed to be an adaptation of the game...

But it would be made by George Romero, father of the zombie movie genre... So it wouldn't be that bad. I take black Barry anyday than super-human-psychic-powered-karate-action Alice.

They just ruined it when Nemesis got a change of heart. I'm flexible with game adaptations, but good ol' Nemi was famous because he was RELENTLESS... I had nightmares of him chasing me, and now he's a good guy? Shit.

Have you seen his latest efforts? Father of the genre or not, it doesn't change the fact that his most recent efforts have been absolutely terrible.

Not George Lucas Phantom Menace terrible (to some), but actually just straight out terrible (period).

I couldn't agree more, Carn. Diary of the Dead was a horrible film, and Land of the Dead wasn't much better.

I thought the voice about the Nemesis program was Dr Isaacs?

The character was changed to Dr. Isaacs in the sequels in tribute to the actor, Jason Isaacs, who played Birkin in the first movie.

Wasn't Sony. Sony's Screen Gems is only the distributer. The actual rights holder and the company behind the decisions (including the hiring of Anderson) is the German film company Constantine Films.
