I love Wesker, I really do. He's my second-favorite character in RE history, next to Chris. I didn't want him to die, but he had to. Chris's battle would never end as long as Wesker was alive. It's now time to come to the realization that Wesker is dead and gone, and the Resident Evil canon as a whole might have died with him.

Holy shit I hope so. Don't get me wrong, I live and breath the series but I would rather it end on a high note than becoming something completely different than the game we all fell in love with. Of course, some fans already consider the series dead. I didn't really mind RE 4 & 5 myself, even though it was extremely different from the older titles.

Like you, Chris is my favorite character and Wesker comes in at a close second. As far as I'm concerned, this was the end of Resident Evil,as far as the original storyline. Could RE5 have been worse? YES. But the question you should really be thinking about, is that regardless of your feelings towards RE5...could RE6 be worse?
No umbrella, no wesker, crazy raiden/tampered with jill, most likely a new control scheme and an all new story arc/characters. Now, if this were to actually happen, we're talking HUGE change. I mean people thought the change from the original titles to RE4 was big, RE6 could make RE4 seem like RE1 going to RE1: Director's cut

With Wesker gone, there are no antagonists left.... there's no way they could do that. I think they made the rockets miss purposely to make the outcome ambiguous. Anyway, its just a theory. I know its kind of a stretch.... but the story has become so over the top that it's probably not an impossibility.

The rockets did not miss they took his head off watch it in slow motion, second they can continue to see if the other branches of Tricell are corrupt and if that means BSAA are corrupt since we don't know the founding 11 members.

Also if you read the files in five when it talks about the living and dead Umbrella head members there is one that dosent say if he or she is alive or dead.

But anyway, I agree with you, he MUST die. He's my favorite character ever, but then they would kill everything that made Wesker that cool. Or will need an amazing storyline to make him alive again.

I'm thinking that he might be dead, but he left a plan B somewhere else... He always got away with everything (obtaining the virus samples, escaping, etc.).

ON TOPIC:

How could RE5 be worse? If Barry Burton appeared and was killed by psychotic Jill.
I can imagine her words: "HERE'S YOUR JILL SANDWICH, BITCH!!!!" hahahaha

Being stabbed in the chest and being burned to a crisp by molten rock are two very different things. Plus, even if he did somehow avoid being hit by missiles, dodged the spray of molten rock they would have sent up into the air, and did manage to crawl back onto land the lower half of his body would have been burn to a cinder anyway. The man would be nothing but a mutated torso, stuck in a volcano. And one where he would almost certainly end up getting dumped into the lava again anyway.

Remember, the only times in CODE: Veronica where he turns and runs are when he's faced with fire. Uroboros is clearly shown to be killed by fire. Almost every virus and bacteria in existence is destroyed by fire. Without the viruses Wesker couldn't heal his body. And so he's toast. Best case is he gets out with everything from his guts down gone and hideous scared, not to mention infected by Uroborus.

Excella could of mutated into a giant worm and be able to spew fire and acid out of several places.
