When I first played it I didn't want him to die, so I kept reassuring myself that he would survive the closer it got to the end. First it was, ok, he fell out of a plane over a volcano. Aslong as there's no cutscene of him landing in lava, he'll be back. Ok, he just lost his shirt. Good. Good. Ooook, he Uroborosed himself. Fuck. Oh, well it's just his arms and upper body sort of, atleast he's not a Birkin blob so there's hope. Ok, they stabbed the shit out of him. Meh, he's weakened I guess so his escape should be any minute now. Fuck. He stumbled into lava. Come on Wesker! Get your shit together! Aslong as you have your head intact you'll be just fine in time for RE6! Ah, great, Chris and Sheva fucked off up the ladder to the chopper. Swim Wesker! No, don't lasso the chopper, you'll leave them no choice! Shut up Jill! Put those fucking rocket launchers away you assholes! Ooh! Button prompt! I wonder what that does. FUCK. Ok, rockets are heading in slowmotion towards Wesker. Music building up. Catch them or something like you did before! Swim! It's only lava! Ok, here they come! Time for Wesker's triumphant and miraculous escape! Ok, rockets hit Wesker in the face... And then exploded, causing his body to drown in a tidal wave of lava. But we're still good, Capcom will really outdo themselves when they explain how he survived this. Yay Wesker! ...Wesker?
...Wesker?

He will come back im sure, Capcom has done weirder things, think zero from megaman, resurrected like 3 times in the first five games, lol
And, although i wont spoil it, think MGS 4's big revelation, incredibly unexpected, and highly highy unlikely, more so then Wesker coming back.
He was made to look dead, and i hope he stays dead for the time being, but Takeuchi himself said a few days before Re5 launched in the US, that Wesker is a very popular charcater, and if fans want him, he thinks we can see him in some way. Wasnt his exact wording, but close enough.
He will come back if the series starts to suck with the new characters and story, or if the fans demand it. Theres potnetial yet for him, and this was just their way of saying, were heading in a new direction ,but not necessarily permanentlyLast edited by Wanderer; 03-24-2009, 07:40 PM.

As much as I hate to see him go (the more often I play the game, the more I think Wesker is kick ass), his storyarc was dragged out long enough.
1. Wesker is imapled by a giagantic talon, raised into the air, and thrown down. He gets up, has a gaping hole the size of two heads in his stomach ( bleeding, no organs in the hole etc.) gets up, sprints out of the mansion while killing Lisa Trevor, and still makes some smug remarks.
2. He managed to escape a mansion being to smithereens( until Code Veronica, we all assumed he was toast, so whats to say we just didnt see him escape the volcano, or at the last moment evade the rockets?)
3. He had a few tonnes of steel dropped on him in cv, getting up from underneath him, and still never felt better.
4. He survived falling down a giant cliff side and also managing to save Jill's life at the same time
5. We end up shooting him with rockets in the hangar, he catches them inches from his face, we blow them up point blank in his grill, he falls down, we inject him with lethal poision.
6. He was injected with lethal amounts of Pg67AW, which was supposed to kill him right then and there ( too much= posion)
7. He was shot point blank in the face , fell thousands of feet from a stealth bomber, with no parachute, a bullet in his head, into a volcano, and he manages to land , without much scratches, take his shirt off, and still sound bad ass.
8. He uses the uro as a weapon, it doesnt mutate him, he falls into hot lava, is well enough to yell, send his arm up, and have a tug of war with a helicopter, while in lava.
8. He also had a free arm while playing tug of war, and could have easily swatted away the rockets. Makes me think maybe something doesnt add up.
now tell me, thats alot to go through, and still be alright, so why is it so far fetched to say, he could possibly survive, in some way, wesker could be back?
That, along with the whole wesker children, the super speed he has, and Takeuchi days before relase saying this....
"As the series continues, we’re seeing more and more of Albert Wesker pulling the strings on the sidelines. Is there an end in sight for this seemingly Wesker-centric series?
It may certainly be time to bring a close to that kind of Wesker-centric storytelling. Having said that, he is a very popular character. A lot of fans of the series really like Wesker. If there are future titles in the series he may be responsible for events in those as well, but it’s kind of hard to tell right now."
So all of this leads me to believe that if nothing else, nothing is ever certain in a videogame or movie, years of gaming have taught me this. Mgs 4 taught us that ( wont spoil it, but very unexpected right?) zero from megaman showed us this, a character in FF VII showed us that, and many others.
All im saying is, although he may be dead, theres no way you can say he wont be back. If capcom wanted it, they could do it just as all these other characters have, The death was shown fast and ambigous, and even when slowing down the video, still somewhat odd.
All im saying is, he has gone through alot, he is a master at survival, has met certain death many times, and still been up and kicking. I have no doubt we wont see him for a while, maybe never, but its a videogame, and he can coem back if fans demand, and capcom decides, his story is over...for now.

The reason he survived those things was that he was virally infected. He was, among other things, super humanly tough. Now, there is an issue with this...his virus is alnmost certainly destroyed by heat. As I mentioned before he legs it on two occasions...and both of them involve fire. Add in the idea that, well, almost any virus or bacteria is destroyed by fire, the variuous version of the Progentor and such included.
Now, let us look at where Wesker is. He's in a volcano. Volcano's are, oddly enough, very hot. More than hot enough to kill off a virus. Given that the reason survived those other things was the virus, and the virus has to be killed by molten rock...
Now, let's look at Wesker getting shot in the face. There is a possiblity that, given the way the scene is made, his head drops a second before the rockets hit and then the missles go through where his head should be. Of course, that might be a graphical glitch but let's say it isn't. Lets say he got his head down in time to dodge the missles. What would happen then they impact behind him? He gets coated in more red hot molten rock when they explode behind him.
I think it's safe to say there are two ways we'll be seeing Wesker again...flashbacks and prequels or if they clone him. Oh lord. Please don't let the Wesker we fought be a clone. Capcom, I will end you if he was a damned clone.

How do you kill a zombie? Shoot it in the head
How do you kill a Wesker? Blow up his head
There's no way his body will repair itself if the control center of his body is destroyed.
Wesker has a weakness to heat, we've seen it before.
A. He runs from Alexia's fire
B. The explosion from the rocket in the Hangar fight stuns him.
and don't we see his face get burned in CV?

It doesn't say that he died in the files... plus the rockets didn't hit him directly, they went behind him... and all it did was splash the magma around. If he was strong enough to withstand the magma for as long as he did, im sure a chunk of him is still alive and regenerating somewhere.
what about excella?
there dead, everyones dead dave.
irving?
damn it, irvings dead too, everyones dead dave!

Again, i agree. I doubt we will see him again, capcom wanst to start a new story arc, and lead the direction anotehr way. All i was trying to point out is, tehre is a lack of conclusive evidence in how he could have survived or not, how weak to fire he truly is, his past history of escaping certain death, and if that final slowed down scene really even means anything. All i wanted to say, is that, is was not quite conclusive enough to say he cant come back, if capcom and the fans so wanted it, they could bring him baclk, although i highly doubt they will.

CHRIS: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... Wait a minute, you're not!"
WESKER: "Yes I am"
CHRIS: "No you aren't"
WESKER: "Yes I am"
CHRIS: "Nope"
WESKER: "Annoying little brat" uses his trust punch and kills Chris.
WESKER: "Who's your daddy now, bitch?"
...
He could be a clone, Umbrella had clone-developing technology. Tyrants were Sergei's clones (if my stupid brain recalls well from UC). If we fighted a Wesker clone, that would suck. He was so unique that doing so could kill his well-earned reputation.
He's dead. I can accept that. But he was a calculating evil man. There surely was a Wesker Plan B.

From the Jun Takeuchi/Jim Sonzero interview.
JT: Actually, we decided to leave the ending open. In the original storyboard [Wesker] was supposed to dodge the rockets, and the shock of the blast was supposed to send his body out of the lava, but it looked too obvious that he survived.
JS: [Laughs] It would've been a cool scene, but it wouldn't really give the player the closure the ending needed. We wanted a more subtle approuch.
JT: In the final version, the player is not quite sure wether the rockets hit Wesker, or if he avoided them. This was our intention, since his body being propelled offscreen is only suggested, not shown. We thought this was the better ending, since the player could now focus on the closing scene without wondering about Wesker.
JS: Coming from someone with a live action background, I have to add that if anyone is buying this, you deserve a steakknife in your rectal cavity. Right Jun?
JT: Fuck yourself, Jim. Fucking gaijin.
