First person as in the control scheme, if i'm not wrong. I always played it with the original settings (red blood, chunky controls)...

Needless to say it's very challenging... and yet at the same time quite refreshing.
Zombies can be up to 30 bullets yes, and they don't usually fall down until about 20 bullets. However you can get random headshots with the pistol.sigpic

My favorite would be the Bio2 PS1 dual shock version.
On a side note, I did a direct comparison a while back with 'Bio2 PSN download VS RE2 GC version', on a HDTV.
Long story short: the GC version had much better character models but the PSN version had better backgrounds (they look better than the PS1 disk version). So choosing between those is a matter of whether you want nice looking characters or nice looking backgrounds. It's a shame neither version has both.
I don't know about the Dreamcast version, it might be the best console version but that Sourcenext PC has the highest quality in game graphics and FMVs.

Game content wise, they're all on the same level except for original PS1 release. Other than that, the DC and PC version's music isn't quite as good and it's missing one track (the RPD exterior). Frankly, I didn't care for Nightmare mode given the nature of the game.
It's one of those games that all versions are recommendable (aside from N64) because it's still RE2.
I'd say that the GC version offers the best of all versions into one good package with the option to skip cutscenes. It's a personal favorite.

Is the background resolution slightly clearer on the GC version, or so I've read somewhere?http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Since the games are on the PS3 HDD, I've been playing the PS1 originals for a while. I haven't played the DC versions in years; I still don't like the controller and one Nightmare mode clear was more than enough.

I'd have to say the DC version. It was a far more "complete" package as compared to the NGC/N64 versions. Though the NGC one would be second.
One thing to note is that the NGC/N64/DC versions have muddy backgrounds and the PSX backdrops look better (IMO).
