Best and Worst RE5 characters?

most of us have finished RE5 now and formed opinions on it already so who does everyone think was the best characters in RE5? not including any previous appearances, just there RE5 appearance. who did you like and who did you hate?

me personally i liked Jill and Excella the most, and i really think Excella should have gotton a bigger part, she was really interesting, but then Wesker killed her. i was hopeing she would be the next major villain in the series.

and i hated Wesker's RE5 appearance, and just everything he did and everything about him in RE5 i hated so much.

well, there more of a favorite enemy, but yeah they were awesome weren't they.


also i wish that capcom would have developed the BSAA guys more, all we got were a few radio transmissions then they all died apart from Josh.

Favourite characters:

I have to say that I liked Irving, though I think he needed a little more fleshing out and some further characterisation. I don't understand why everyone speaks so negatively of his voice, I thought the VA did a solid job of portraying someone who was clearly unhinged and made even more so by the situation he was forced into. Irving just wanted to cut and run with the money he had earned - legitimately in his eyes, he's just a businessman with standards afterall - but instead he got dragged back into the mess and pretty much coerced into injecting himself with Las Plagas in an effort to stop Chris and Sheva.

He really was banking a lot on the oil field explosion taking them out. His boss battle was fun, I liked his boss music too and I thought he had a rather nice death. Defiant, yet pitiable.

I liked Kirk too despite his very brief existence in RE5. Rest in peace, ol' buddy. When you hear his voice over the radio during Public Assembly, you actually feel a sense of reassurance. Don't worry, just hold on a little longer, Kirk's on his way to help us out. For once in RE, I felt like I had backup.

Josh was a welcome addition. I'm glad he survived.

Oh and Sheva, I took a liking to Sheva long before it became popular on here. Back when everyone else was slagging her off for being Angelina Jolie dipped in tea and pining over the loss of their beloved Jill, I still held hope for her as a character. She just needed a little more characterisation, much like a lot of the other characters in RE5.

Least favourite:

I do like Excella. I think her only real mistake was believing that she could seduce Wesker. And let's face it...I imagine she hasn't had much trouble seducing most people in the past. Sadly, Wesker was pretty much in love with himself and her attempts failed. She was just another useful tool who didn't realize that was all she was.

I also enjoyed Chris' character. His personality came through as so much more real and professional than Leon S. Kennedy. Leon S. Kennedy was pretty one dimensional compared to Chris, and given that Chris started life as the clean cut unthinking all American hero that's slightly frigthening. But then, he was Leon S. Kennedy. I guess they believed bad ass made up for his waffer thin personality.

^ i agree about Irving. i thought he was cool, and i never had a problem with the VA either. it's just he was killed of before he could really of been developed more, just like Excella was. if only RE5 had longer cutscenes.

he and Excella could have been so much more than they were. they had so much potential i think. so much wasted potential.


also, does anyone have a screen shot of Chris holding Jill in his arms? cause i really loved the picture on the end mission screen where Chris has Jill in his arms.

I liked Sheva a lot; her voice acting was great and even though she didn't have really strong characterization, she was still very likable. Also, even though Jill's appearance in RE5 was ultimately pretty brief, I dug her quite a bit as well; namely the flashback and the scene after you remove the device from her chest.

yeah those two scenes were pretty epic, probably my favorite parts of the game.

yeah those two scenes were pretty epic, probably my favorite parts of the game.

I think some of the line delivery is really, really good too. When Jill apologizes to Chris and he's holding her, the look on his face and the way he says "it's okay" was just perfect, and the way Jill says "don't you trust your partner?" when convincing Chris and Sheva to go after Wesker was great too. Also in the flashback the way Jill just immediately reacts and just about kills herself to save Chris really speaks a lot for her character and her relationship with him. I thought Jill's role in RE5 was way better than many people give credit for.

i totally agree, and even though she was a plot device in RE5, she was probably the most epic plot device character ever, and her VA is great. and during the fight with her you press square and Chris screams things like "Jill snap out of it, i don't want to hurt you" and "Jill it's me Chris, your partner, don't you remember me?!" i thought that was so epic. and i really really loved when you finished that mission and the level over screen comes up and it's Chris holding Jill in her arms. does anyone have a screen shot of that? i reall want it, it's so sweet.

also when Wesker walks out and coldly says "enjoy watching Jill suffer" to Chris i was like "You Bastard Wesker! GRRR".

anyways, i think Jill and Excelle where the most interesting characters in RE5.
