Agreed. People act like the action-oriented route of RE5 was some sort of shocking surprise, in spite of RE5 not having anything on par with the absurdity of robo-mines, flying machine gun turrets or the Leon-Mike-All-American-Slaughter-Thon.

As for the upcoming Dark Side Chronicles. I was intrigued. In spite of how horribly UC butchered the RE storyline, I still had fun with it and I had some interest in Dark Side Chronicles largely for the return of Claire, and then I saw how she was redesigned and my interest promptly evaporated.
Nicholai would be great. On a long shot though...what about Dr. Cameron (4D executor). Would be weird, but interesting, since she'd be regenerating again, and again, AND AGAIN . Or maybe Jenny from Spencer's list, whom was 'missing', I think.
It seems that a few of you want to see Ada return...not me. Her transformation into a Cirque de soleil Matrix ninja 007 superspy doesn't fit the mold of the RE franchise, or at least what it was prior to RE4.
The original RE worked because it was a horror game first & foremost, with the weapons abilities at least attributed to most characters being law enforcement types. I guess I may not be in the majority here, but I definitely think RE5 should wrap up the old storylines and be done with them. The RE universe kept butchering itself as more and more convoluted storylines were ushered out with each subsequent game. And RE3 started the trend of heavy action that culminated in RE5 being almost a straight up action fest. Hence my hope for a top-to-bottom reimagining for the franchise. Not necessarily a reboot, but just a whole new setting with new heroes (fewer this time) and new frightening settings/creatures.
Despite my woe, I can see some new evil entity being placed into the foreground with the inevitably crappy Darkside Chronicles. And spare me the "you're an idiot - Darkside Chronicles will rule; it's gonna answer everything AND be fun" sentiments, as the same people who are praising it right now were the ones bashing the heck out of REUC. How quickly we forget...
I'm almost certain DSC is going to direct the franchise in another path stemming from the already established RE lore.
Was UC bashed when it was first announced? I didnt hang around forums or read previews for it. I didnt mind it, alot of the scenarios seemed weird to me (Jill and Chris together during MI) but other parts were a nice surprise (All the Wesker parts, the T-ALOS mission).
I dont like Ada as much as I am interested in seeing how things turn out for her. I am more interested in who she works for, personally I didn't even like her in RE2 so her RE4 incarnation further pushed my dislike. There are very few things left in RE that I am really all that interested in. TriCell and other Pharmeceutical companies, Whats going on with Sherry Birkin, and maybe some small kind of closure involving past characters. I don't cry and whine that Rebecca/Barry/Billy all deserve their own game...but a small file saying what they are up to or what happened to them wouldn't hurt.
'Main Characters' of Resident Evil: Chris Redfield - Odds are, his storyline is wrapped up and he won't be in back-to-back games. Jill Valentine - Read above. Leon S. Kennedy - He's a government agent...meh. Where to go from here with him? Claire Redfield - She's babysitting an orphan somewhere Albert Wesker - Melted. Ada Wong - Ahhh...what do we have here?
That's my logic when thinking about RE6. Am I forgetting anyone? I don't think so.
I really dont want another RE game to be added to the series. The main storyline involved Chris, Wesker, and Umbrella/Spencer. Wesker is dead as is Spencer, Umbrella is long gone, its viral legacy is now nothing more than what nukes are today on the black market, and Chris basically has everything wrapped up. The series has loose ends, true...but I'd rather they just remain up in the air and thing should die out. People are bitching that the series has been dead since 4...and if that's the case, no future game will ever return to the roots unless it is a remake.

Yes, and you know I agree with this, but as long as these games keep raking in cash, why the hell would they stop making them? At this pace, RE6 is gonna be a futuristic horror FPS in space starring Leon S. Kennedy as he infiltrates Tricell's base of operations on Mars, where telepathic G-monsters and laser-hallways await his arrival.

[QUOTE=Darinl1979;90895]Was UC bashed when it was first announced?/QUOTE]
I dunno about when it was announced, or even when it came out...but there's a lot of hatred for it around these parts. Very few people like it at all. It's not a great game by any means, but I don't mind it. It did let me down a whole lot, as I had great expectations for it. Of course the same thing happened with RE5...I really have to stop spinning intricate plots in my mind for RE games...
I understand that people have been pining for some resolutions to many characters, but Capcom has had the opportunity with REUC, Degeneration, and RE5 to at least mention the whereabouts and goings-on of minor RE characters, yet has failed to do so.
Considering that Capcom has made RE into the Leon S. Kennedy douchefest with RE4, Degeneration, and very likely RE6...you may as well forget about all those other cult heroes like Rebecca, Barry, etc.
Though someone from the development team of Degeneration mentioned that he'd like to see Rebecca in the next RE CG film, if there is one...so I guess nothing is impossible.
Leon S. Kennedy - He's a government agent...meh. Where to go from here with him?
To infinity...and BEYOND! Seriously, send him to the farthest corner of the Universe. Without life support.
Claire Redfield - She's babysitting an orphan somewhere
That's some bullshit that she's always relegated to babysitter status. In RE2 she had Sherry, RECV she had Steve, and then in Degeneration she had that other retarded child. I fucking hate kids in any type of entertainment...
Well, Claire's babysitting was why I reckoned Sherry would be involved in the next game. It's about the only reason to get her out and about and shooting things in the face till they die 'cos she's a Redfield and Gandmama Redfield taught each child to snipe at three years of age.
And since Claire's back and will need help that mean's everyone's favourite two dimensional character...Leon S. Kennedy. Because you always need more Leon S. Kennedy in your life. A life without Leon S. Kennedy is sad and lacking.
And if Leon S. Kennedy is there that means, most likely, longing screams of 'ADA, wait!' Even if Ada isn't in the game. But she most likely will be. Leon S. Kennedy demands it!
YAY LEON!
If they would just tone him down a bit I wouldn't mind so much. It's kinda sad that the next Resident Evil game (other than Darside Chronicles) is going to be so far away. I mean, I thought RE5 would satisfy me for at least 5 or 6 months but I feel like I'm already done with it. I know it's greedy but I wish they would have put in a few more unlockable's, like some harder ones to achieve. Now I just turn the game on and watch all the cinematics with wesker lol. Who knows, with the way things are going the next antagonist could be someone all together new, just like the storyline...in which case, will make me sad and happy at the same time. Happy that they will no longer mess with the characters and make the storyline anymore confusing, and sad that an era has passed, and I probably won't be into the series anymore.

I think the most amusing suggestion I have heard for the next antagonist is evil Steve Burnside, carrying on Wesker's legacy. I think a good 98% of the fandom would CRY, it would be hilarious. XD
There will be no antagonist from the current storyline, the series is getting a reboot.
The next antagonist will probably be a bio terrorism group, and I highly doubt we will see any returning RE characters as the protagonist (Except maybe Barry, Carlos, or Rebbecca)
