  • the original resident evil movie..

i was just wondering if anyone remembers when "they" first talked about a resident evil movie back in like "99" i saw it in one of the old game magazines and it was actually supposed to be the first game! they had actorss picked that looked like jill and chris it was shaping up to be awesome! but than i guess supposedly they changed directors and producers and we got the shit fest trilogy with that stupid alice char..damn i wish theyt would have stuck to the original idea..

also i know that that do things like this to broaden the audience but the story from the o.g r.e would have been great and also when are they going to realise that if you are going to make a movie about a game you should make it for the gamers because in the end they will be the ones buying tickets and more importantly dvd's the rest will take it or leave it either way.

Talked about that in the above podcast.

The answer is nothing. There was no winner in the end because that version of the film never went ahead and Capcom quietly canned it. It was part of the conditions though that the prize may not happen as it was dependent on a movie going ahead... and that took 3 more years.

lol that's what I thought because I remember it taking way longer than it should have after the first script was scrapped. Well, I guess it was a win/lose situation, they didn't make it in the film, but the film ending up sucking anyways lol.

I don't mind the Alice movies. They're a brainless shitfest, but they're great popcorn flicks!

Yea the original script by Romero is out there somewhere, I've read it and it's "ok" but some parts do seem a bit cheesy, and many characters get killed in different ways than the game, Chris and Jill are already in a relationship, etc. They scrapped it and decided to make Resident Evil "Sleek and Sexy", so they cast a model for the main role. I thought the first movie was decent, but I can't even watch it anymore without picturing that stupid rubber nemesis getting punched out by Milla Jovovich

Nothing Paul W.S Anderson makes does justice to anything. He manages to enrage the fanbases of everything he goes near. Aliens Vs Predator got him death threats. And the Resident Evil films are utter garbage.

The Original attempt at a Resident Evil film may have been flawed, but i still think it would have been far better than Anderson's mary sue filled rubbish.

i disagree. Event horizon was a great movie, Paul Anderson is a good director, but a crappy writer.

he only directed the first RE movie, and that's widely accepted as the best (i like 2 better, can you guess why?) of the three.

also i didn't think Alien VS Predator was that bad.

anyways, i read George A Romero's script for the original RE movie, it was ok, but it was basically RE1 the movie, there wasn't really much reason to make it. it was good, but no better that the RE movie we got from Paul Anderson anyway.

The movie was horrible, even if you think of it as not Resident Evil. Perhaps if they made Alice less of a Mary Sue,. it would be better. But...She isn't, so, it sucks. But they made Jill look really nice in the second movie, even though, as I'm pretty sure the podcast has said, she was basically there to be in awe of Alice.

I really, really, really hate those movies. Their treatment of Jill alone was enough to make me want to slap the Hell out of a LOT of people. Even people who weren't involved!

I haven't even bothered watching the third one yet.

Haven't seen the third? Oh, you're missing out on a treat man! First they try and make Alice into Mad Max, only more awesome and with super powers. They even try to make her all brooding and uncaring but she really does care because she's just sad. Then they have some human people. Because we need people there to be in awe of Alice. Aeria Gloris, baby! One of them's supposed to be Claire but apart from the name you couldn't tell. Oh, and Carlos returns, earning him more movie time than anyone in the movie not alice! About twenty minutes on screen, I reckon.

But then, you see, the world is dead. The T-Virus got into plants and killed them all, turning the world into a desert and completely burying Vegas. How do the plants get infected? Maybe it's the water. No, then the survivors would die horribly. The air? No, then the survivors couldn't breath. Oh, I know! Zombie bows! They all the plants! Especially the trees.

And the survivors? They're infitiely stupid because, well, they're not Alice. Maybe being in her presence doesn't allow them to think of anything else but her, 'cos people whove survived with zombies for years can't recognize zomnbie infection in someone, and the infected guy still sits there, dying, hoping they won't. Because so many other people live through a zombie bite.

Oh, and I'm not even gonna spoil all the really funny bits. But all those reviews are totally wrong. It's pure comedy gold, man. Pure gold! You'll be laughing the whole way through the film. Or weeping and crying at what Resident Evil has become to many people. One or the other.

I agree with the post above. That movie is indeed one of the best comedy movie I've watched that month.
