Steve's voice actor may have been annoying but it wasn't that bad really. I kinda felt sorry for his character for what the game put him through.

Well, in my extremely unpopular opinion, I don't find Steve’s VA to be annoying. I liked his voice, because for me, it matched his personality. I do agree that Steve's proclamation of love is silly and ridiculous, but it’s not any different than Ada’s confession to Leon, and I put more blame on Capcom for their need to weave “romantic” subplots into the storylines than anything else.
Game-wise, however, I highly doubt Steve loved Claire, and he probably just said it because he was dying, but regardless, in a real life scenario, I wouldn’t put it past a teenager just like him—and believe me, they exist—to sincerely be under the belief they’re in love with the one person who he actually managed to befriend.
Steve was a whiny, dependent teenage boy who took almost every opportunity to impress Claire, and he does completely ridiculous things to get her attention, starting with the stereotypical “act like a jerk and she’ll tooooooooootally want me” routine. And, I can bet that at least 80% of the younger RE fans would act just him in a situation with some kind of viral outbreak, because they desperately want the entire thing to be cinematic and cool, all while earning the affections of their hot acquaintance. If anything, I think Steve grates a lot of nerves because he secretly reminds a lot of fans of themselves.
But, really, I like Steve. A lot. And, all his “annoying” qualities are mainly what interest me in him, because I find his behavior to be realistic for a teenager.

I know it's probably going to sound pretty weird that I've thought about this sort of thing before, but I've always kind of held the belief that, say there ever actually was a zombie outbreak in real life, fans of zombie movies, books, and video games, etc, who tend to think they'd be the sole survivors in such a predicament, would actually be among the first to go, because they'd be more willing to take risks since they believe that they "know what they're doing."

^I agree. I've thought about the same thing as well.
I'm willing to admit that, as a teenager, I would've definitely been one of them. I would've been the first one out there with a machete, screaming "WOMAN POWA~" before getting killed. Hopefully, now that I'm older and wiser, I'd think twice about that sort of thing, but when I was a teenager? God, no.

I guess it's kind of like when you watch a horror movie, and in the back of your mind (unless you're the type who just outright shouts it at the screen) you're constantly telling the character to do or not do this or that. From the vantage point of the viewer, it certainly makes sense to not run up the stairs, for example, but if you were actually in that situation, just how clearly would you be thinking? Certainly not as clearly as you are when you're viewing the events from a safe distance. You'd likely wind up making the same mistakes the characters in the film do.

I wonder what Steve's voice will sound like this time around, it's not so common as a wesker/chris voice lol. Some might say it's annoying, but regardless of how you feel about the young man, it's surely...unique."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

Yea, like...maybe they should get a real teenager. Ya know, instead of using a 35 yr. old man who has a squeaky voice lol."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

I just hope that his voice is like a teenagers, just not too squeaky or high pitched. However, I'm more afraid to hear what Alfred's voice will sound like, his voice in the original was awesome because of how bad it was.

I loved Steve's voice because of what's been said about it matching his personality some.
Though about the love thing. I know most people find it cheesy because of the "short time together" thing, but I think it actually makes a lot of sense for a character like Steve. Look at his backstory. He lost both of his parents (had to kill one of them himself), was in a pretty shit situation after he was taken to the island. His overall view on people was he didn't LIKE them. Any of them. Claire reached out to him and as someone who apparently hadn't experienced much kindness, his quick attachment to her when she gave him something he hadn't had makes sense. Because when you get something like kindness when you don't have much of it, I can imagine wanting more after you realize how nice it feels.
