Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Discussion

The Darkside Chronicles looks a lot better graphically than its predecessor, and also looks like it will be more fun. It is also the closest we will ever get to a remake for the second game, so we might as well enjoy what we get.

I really can't wait to see more footage, because as you know, that brief trailer wasn't enough.

They said that the purpose of the Darkside Chronicles was to put more of an emphasis on the series' horror roots, but at the same time, they say that the new controls are to put more of an emphasis on the action. Go figure. As I always said in the past, action and horror do not mix. It is either an action game, or it is a horror game. Pick one.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 CHAPTER

Scenario 1-1: Raccoon City Streets
Enemies: Zombies, Cerberus, Crows

Scenario 1-2: The Police Station
Enemies: Zombies, Lickers, Cerberus, Crows

Scenario 1-3: The Sewers

Scenario 3-4: BONUS SCENARIO: Jet-skiing

A special scenario dedicated to the Jet-skii, in which you use the Wii remote to manuever through courses.

Things you'd like to see possibly:

1. You can get poisoned - return of the blue herbs
2. Death Scenes - When you character gets killed, it switches from 1st person to 3rd person, and you get to see a death scene.
3. Pick between multiple characters

RE2 - Leon, Claire
RECV - Claire, Steve, Chris
RE4 - Leon

4. Blood splashes from the camera whenever you get attacked.
5. Able to pick up Files
6. Able to pick up Ink Ribbons, they serve a different purpose, the more you collect, the more you unlock stuff
7. More multiple paths
8. Flamethrower Weapon
9. Online Co-op

Any thoughts, ideas?

i agree it would be awesome; a RE2 so-close-Remake, and i would love to see ada, and about the chapters, i'm guessing the same.

RE4 doesnt really fit with re2 and cv, and might be a harder sell to wii owners that already have re4 for wii. Seems like it's too soon. I think it's more likely we'll see a degeneration scenario or something new entirely before re4. With that said, in terms of extra scenarios like the ada/wesker ones in UC i think we may see more of her and possibly hunk?

Anybody think we'll see Wesker make an appearance?

I'm hoping for some great unlockables like the ability to play the game off rails and the way UC was originally intended. It's a shame we're finally getting a semi remake of re2 and its on freakin rails.

I feel like Umbrella Chronicles was based around Chris, Jill and Wesker:

RE1 - Chris, Jill and Wesker
RE3 - Jill(and Carlos)
Umbrella's End - Chris, Jill and Wesker

In turn, I feel like Darkside Chronicles could be about Leon, Claire and Ada:

RE2 - Leon, Claire and Ada(although Ada already had her RE2 scenario in UC)
REC:V - Claire, Steve and Chris
RE4 - Leon and Ada
Degeneration - Leon and Claire
New scenario(?) - Any combination of the three.


Again, it's all speculation, but I feel this is logical.

I'm the most excited about the return of Marvin(hopefully they won't re-use his outbreak model), and also Robert Kendo. I can't wait to see that failure of a gun store owner die all over again! "Hey Darlin"

Don't forget that all of those scenarios have to be for co-op (even if in the game the scenario is based characters weren't together: Chris & Jill in RE1). Therefore I doubt that there will be a RE4 scenario, because who would be Leon's partner? Ada was always ahead of Leon, screwing with him and rescuing him; Luis was just a mysterious guy who gets killed in the middle of the game; and Ashley "Leon!!! Heeeeelp mEEEEE!" Graham can't even use a gun.

It reminds me of Dead Aim, with the 3rd-person camera switching to the 1st-person when you aim.

If they retconned Chris and Jill being together all throughout the Mansion incident, then they can just as easily retcon Leon and Luis being a tag-team in a RE4 scenario.

It's a much bigger leap though to put Leon and Luis together in an RE4 scenario, they'd have to make a whole new introduction for the two as Leon first comes into the village. Or skip everything up to finding Luis locked in the closet/ make it 1 player til then...

Anyone thought about Gaiden being a possible scenario? I somehow doubt it will happen but it would be fun if they did include it.

Maybe the new scenario will tie up loose ends with Claire and Sherry?
