I'm sure Mr. Spencer is just like me in the fact that, like most people, I truly liked Jill a lot for a long time...up until RE5. Her portrayal in RE5 turned me off of her completely, and the more I play the game, the more I get pissed off at how she was used, and the more I start to dislike the character.

^I have to agree somewhat. Jill is kind of just "there" in RE5, and you really don't get a feel for her character until you read her unlocked file.

To me, RE5 Jill is the same Jill I saw in RE1, REmake, and REUC. Kind of bland. I suppose she had a little more development in RE3, but when you think about it - she's always just been "generic."

RE5 in no way helped nor hindered that.

I've always liked Jill, but it was all the "Los Jilluminados" hoopla prior to RE5 that made me start to dislike her. Are you sure, CR29, that that is not the reason why you think less of her now?

The Jill fandom has been present ever since RE3, I blame the way Capcom dressed her. It just was brought back into light with her "death" speculation. However, I don't think the "generic" label is limited to just Jill but pretty much most characters in Resident Evil. Chris is pretty bland, Leon is really bland, and Claire is just as bland as Jill. We don't really get character development and we never really learn much about who they are and what makes them tick. Its fine that way, RE has proven it doesn't need insane character development.

That definitely has something to do with it, but that's not the only reason.

I don't feel like getting into it again, to be quite honest.

You're totally right. I didn't mean to make it seem like Jill is the only generic character in the series, as they all pretty much are. I just used Jill as an example because her fans tend to be much more fanatical than other sets of fans, and I could never quite understand how they perceived her to be some well-established, in-depth character with an amazing personality.

That's fine. I just figured that might have had something to do with it.
