"Not so much voice acting, but the dialogue."

I suppose some of the dialogue was horrible.

"where your avoiding Nemesis and Jill just says randomly "It seems that way" or something."

I noticed that, too. Though it was just me.

I played it with my friend who has never played Resident Evil before. She fell in love with it.

"The opening cinema. Jill cornered by the undead. *groans*"

Don't get me started on that!
Am I the only one that noticed, in the first part of that one when Jill was cornered, the second time she tried to snap a zombie's neck with her thighs when it didn't work, it looked like (not trying to be disgusting, but...) it looked like it was eating her out.

I liked Umbrella Chronicles for only one single reason. Wesker.
It's an excuse to give Wesker a protagonist role on RE. The whole game serves as a "recapitulation" of the saga. If you read the digests it details the events of the original games; so I would only consider relevant to the story the whole "behind the scenes" stuff (Wesker, Ada & Hunk - Rebecca's nightmare maybe...).

But it was a fun game as RE4 and RE5; we need to move on guys, we lost "classic" RE a long time ago. I'll buy Darkside Chronicles, and enjoy as it is.

I def enjoyed Umbrella Chronicles, it's decent for what it is, the remixed music is cool the menu design is cool. It retains some elements of the old games. I could even almost accept the on rails aspect. I don't think people are just complaining for the hell of it or just to nitpick. The big disappointment is in the fall of umbrella. When RE4 came out and Umbrella was already gone it took away the one thing fans have been waiting to do since the beginning and that was take down Umbrella. We were promised with Umbrella Chronicles that we'd actually be given that chance, to be a part of its downfall.

The first offense was making it on rails, so initial reaction was great we're gonna finally get to take down umbrella and we're gonna do it on rails?! Fine, accepted.

But then you get there and the gameplay on harder settings is pretty fun with a friend, you make it to these extra chapters, the downfall of umbrella and it's garbage. The whole Talos /Sergei /Ivans parts were nonsense and did not fit the art direction of the series whatsoever and was just done terribly.

I don't know if it's because the game was outsourced? But they did a horrible job with the parts that werent already canon and in the series. It's kind of depressing that that was what we were given after so many years of buildup. The fall of umbrella was supposed to be THE big climax of the series and instead we get a monkey with rockets and a bunch of shiny white nonsense.

Totally. And I resent that she's trapped and helpless as Carlos saves her.

She's tough as nails in 'Nemesis'. I hate the rewriting.

There are a number of reasons to hate Umbrella Chronicles. One is it was just damned lazy. The original idea was to go RE4 style and may have worked better...but it was so much easier to go rail shooter and reuse all the old environments. They couldn't think of a way to do certain things, like add Barry, so they just cut him out the game altogether. Add in that's not that good a lightgun game compared to, for example, House of the Dead and it's not winning any awards.

Then you have the characters being changed. Jill in the RE3 scenario is a good example, but honestly? The RE3 scenario was just about terrible in every way possible. Birkin in the Zero scenario is another example. Wesker's made to look like a super awesome demi-god. It just sets my teeth on edge sometimes.

Then there was the story...ignoring the horribly, horribly mashed and edited scenarios for the main game we got a number of badly made side quests that either didn't make sense (Rebecca and Richard versus the snake, for example) were things we already knew or just, well, sucked. Oh, or featured more Wesker. Wesker's bits tended to work better.

And then there was my personal hate...not only can't you move on in the story until you've done this, you need to get an S before you can continue. Ugh. I'm crap at lightgun games. Why do you punish me so?

The final parts of the game are probably the best, but it's not hugely impressive. TALOS is a let down, both in appearance and the fight itself. Sergie was...different.

I know it was just a side game. Fair enough. But I don't think it's terribly unreasonable of Capcom to not completely fuck up there own story and characters when recapping the series. I mean, you'd think they'd know.

Yeah, every character was made to look like an idiot all in order to make Wesker look good. The most prominent example of which being Birkin. In RE0, he was someone on equal standing with Wesker. He was also intelligent, devious and scheming. They were old friends. Fact is, I loved Birkin in RE0. Yet in UC, Birkin was reduced to some snivelling little pissant while Wesker pulls a smug face and verbally sucks his own cock. Hell, even Chris and Jill were relegated to the status of mere pawns, when really I've got a lot of respect for Chris as a character. So glad to see him finally get his moment in RE5.

I liked Sergei too, even though we all knew that he was destined to die at the hands of Wesker - again to appease the fanbase. In fact, that's all UC was. Wesker's colossal penis ejaculating over the eager faces of his fanbase.

I liked the game, it held me over for a while until 5 can out. I didn't really expect that much out of it and wished it had more replay value. I guess I will have to another control and play the game with someone.

I can't deny that, but as I've said, the goal of this game was purely to promote Wesker as the role protagonist; hell why put his face bigger in both covers (Japan and USA, haven't seen the Europe one); my guess is that the scenarios are based on Wesker's point of view, so obviously every one is gonna be inferior than him (based on the way the storyline developed on 5).

This is a bit extreme don't you think? As you have probably noticed I'm a Wesker fan; usually the more extreme fans are "Jilluminados", who are more prone to be obsessed with changes/stuff that happens with the character... Like "WTF why they changed her hair color!!!! Capcom sucks!!!".
Anyway it doesn't matter anymore, the Wesker era is over, so...

For the record; I didn't enjoy the RE3 butchering, and I'm not excusing Capcom for being ass lazy, but IMO it's a very big deal trying to "compress" the whole storyline in one game, and RE3 has a very long story; they just sticked to the plot's more important points (Jill escaping Racoon City, Nemesis hunting her, etc.).
I'll take RE3 original any day, of course. Hell, I'll take any of the originals, and enjoy the side stories from UC.

S.D. Perry made Birkin out to be just that in her one of her novels, too.

I haven't played Resident Evil 2, so I wouldn't know what I'm missing out on. What system is it out for? Probably one I don't have.
