  • Majini VS Ganados

Which did you people think were better, Majini, or Los Ganados? I think the Majini were more frightening.

they're the same thing, no ?

stick a plagas in a Spaniard, you get a ganado, stick one in an African, you get a majini :p

Well, not quite. Didn't one of the files say that the Majini we're made off Type 2 Plagas? Basically the infection is quicker and they can also have the parasite come out of their mouth and then back in.

The majini were a lot more aggressive...and the first time I knocked down a wetlands majini and went in to impale him, I got a bit freaked when he simply jumped back up and took a slice at me.

Majini are a step up from the ganado in terms of evolution.

Their plaga isn't as weak to light (although still dead if struck by flash bangs).
They can reach out of the body and back in (without destroying the host body)
The host is under control of the parasite much faster

(Basically, the ganado operated under a lot of very specific rules)

Don't quote me on this, but I also seem to recall there being something about the majini not being as depending on an overmind or person in control in order to work.

Personally, I found the ganado to be much more frightening in terms of execution.
You don't really know if the people you see at the start of Resident Evil 5 are infected or not, they don't seem to have much of a normal everyday life thing going either.

Resident Evil 4 has you enter a village where people are just living an everyday life. Like I said on the previous podcast too; there's just something unsettling about these old villagers, their mumbling and bossing around and the way they attack you with everyday tools. (For some reason, the majini seems to have a lifetime supply of empty green glass bottles, all sorts of fancy weaponry and stuff)

Also, RE4 had the whole cult thing to go with it all (although I hate Salazar)

According to the in-game plagas file the only thing different is the gestation period, plagas type 2 works faster other then that it "shares all the same characteristics", so essentially both majini and ganado are the same thing ..

The file itself doesn't mention about the ability to bring the parasite out of the mouth being unique to type 2.

But sticking to the topic, the ganado were definetly the "creepier" of the two, i mean old dudes wielding farm equipment. Come on, nothing beats that.

The Majini, at least to me, seem a lot more frightening because they're more intelligent than the Ganados. That's how it seems to me.

Well if we're going on terms of their scare factor then I will have to say the ganados. They had the element of surprise because you didn't know what you were going up against. It seemed, up until the first one's head exploded and the parasite came out to attack, that Leon was just going up against crazed locals. The majini lacked that because right off that bat we knew they were infected, and they were all too eager to show it off.

The Majini pretty much had the exact same AI as the Ganados.

Ganados were scarier, if only because it was the first encounter with Las Plagas, and we didn't understand their motive.

I didn't find the Ganados very frightening. Dr. Salvador, however, he scared the shit out of me the first time he cut my head off. And the double-bladed chainsaw guy in Mercenaries at the water world is always good for a scare.

Well, in brief the Majinis are the next level of the Ganados like it has been stated in the previous posts. And didn't the Majini have larger vocabulary than the Ganados?

I'm sure that more people understood what the Ganados were saying than the Majini, also. With the Majini, they could be saying "More cupcakes, plz?" for all we know.

I liked the Ganados because you could understand what they were saying...if you knew spanish.

                            ¡Mátalo! - Kill him!
¡A por él! - After him!
                            ¡Agárrelo! - Grab him!
¡Allí está! - There he is!
¡Voy a romperte pedazos! - I’m gonna break you into pieces!
                            ¡Es el forastero! - It’s the foreigner!
¡Detrás de tí, imbécil! - Behind you, imbecile!
Mueren, Mueren, Meuren - Die, die, die
                            Cabrón - "multiple meanings"

"¡Detrás de tí, imbécil! - Behind you, imbecile!"

Could that also be translated into 'Behind you, asshole!'?
