I'm probably the only person who thinks this, but I like the chemistry between Chris and Sheva. Chris being this father-like figure to her, this experienced veteran with years of history between himself and bioweapons. A man who has struggled to come to terms with the death of his original partner, who has lost friends along the way and suffered a great deal. Then you have Sheva, a young woman who has her own troubled history but younger and having the same spark to fight for what's right that Chris himself once possessed.
If anything, I think Sheva reminds Chris of how he used to be. Young, idealistic and determined. In RE5, Chris is more jaded and cynical. His comments regarding American culture reflect upon this. Though he does retain that marvellous character flaw back from his days in the U.S. Air Force, his single-minded mentality. No more prevalent than here:

JILL: You have to! This is your only chance! If Wesker succeeds, Uroboros will
be spread across the globe! Millions will die!
CHRIS: Well yeah, but--
