CV question

I'm not a big fan of CV so I'm probably just missing a part of the story, but there's something that's been bothering me. When Claire is captured, brought to rockfort island, meets steve, yada yada yada, she finally finds a computer and emails leon.

Now, why would she email Leon instead of Chris? Does chris not have an email address? If she already knew that Leon could contact Chris, why the hell didn't she just email Leon instead of breaking into a Umbrella HQ? They probably explained it, but I'm just curious.

Maybe because Leon had "contacts" I mean, he was probably being trained to be a US operative, then he might redirect that email to inteligence to get Chris. But it's one of those unsolved RE mysteries.

She wasn't asking for help, she was just getting Leon to inform Chris that Umbrella was spying on him.

Chris was off in Europe at the time and I doubt he had time to check his e-mails everyday. He was trying to take down Umbrella. Given the contacts that Leon had, he would have been able to contact Chris. It doesn't make much sense though..

Claire was a smart girl, she realized that Chris was under surveilance, which would include his mails as well, sending Leon the message instead would allow leon to meet Chris personally and relay the information or do so through a secure method.

It's quite clear that Chris's computer was destroyed in the nuclear blast that leveled Raccoon City, thus making it impossible for him to check his AOL e-mail. He was pretty pissed about that computer, too...he had three fan-fics and over 12GB of music saved on that PC.

He may have had a laptop which he took with him to play World of Warcraft while he was waiting to get some intel on Umbrella.

lol I guess all that makes since but it's still kind of silly that Claire got captured looking for her brother when apparently all she had to do was send Leon an email to find his whereabouts. I Guess they thought it would be cooler to have Chris find Claire, instead of Claire finding Chris. I suppose it's just one of those things lol.

She didn't find out about his exact location until after she was captured. The only reason she was able to determine his location was because Umbrella was keeping tabs on him.

I always figured it was just a (nonsensical, in true RE fashion) reason to namedrop "Leon" into the continuing storyline. What I'm more curious about, is whether it is true that Steve actually was planned to be Leon in the early stages of production.

But if I had to theorize an answer to the OP, I'd say that Claire expected a quicker response from Leon than Chris. Since Leon is often at his comp, updating the website he maintains for his idol Masaki Sumitani, whereas the only machine Chris hangs around is the Smith machine.
