You should see a shrink or something, because you've moved far beyond pathological.

^That's fine and all, but isn't it true that in the early stages of production they intended for the Steve character to be Leon, and thus the resemblance?

I'm sure he was, but I can't remember where I found that information, so I can't back it up. There's also a rumour that Nemesis was planned for CV too but I don't think that's true.

^TY. I know I've seen multiple bits of info that state that the Steve character was originally intended to be Leon. Now whether those rumors are true or just rampant speculation is what I'd like to know.

That's the reason I posed the question.

Maybe she knew Leon was the only person she could safely contact.
Leon would be able to get help, and that help turned out to be Chris.

Steve's role was written for Leon at first but the producers ditched that idea because they didn't want to upset the fans by killing off a main character.

Good point. When you think about it, Leon has never really interacted with Umbrella. After RC, I'm sure they never even paid much attention to him. Chris was more than likely under heavy Umbrella surveillance, just like someone else posted in this thread.

Bingo! That's what it was - thanks.

If Leon took Steve's place I would have liked CV way more than I do, and that's saying something lol.

I was under the impression that Chris was hard to get in contact with (the reason while Claire was in RE 2) and she thought Leon could find his whereabouts. I remember reading that Leon was working with an anti Umbrella group and maybe Chris was part or had some direct link.

Steve shouldn't have been Leon. RE4 was an enjoyable game, and I really liked Leon in RE2 and to see him turn into a whiny teen with serious emotional problems after what happened in RE2 just wouldn't seem right and it'd have put me right off. Way back in the day before CV and RE4, Leon used to be my favourite character.

It always make me ponder, Claire had an access to the Internet and all she did was e-mailing Leon? Really? There's a zombie outbreak out there; few months earlier an entire town was bombed, thus making authorities aware of T-virus threat, and all she could think of was "hey, I'm gonna tell Leon to find my brother and make him pick me up"... That's not very smart :/.

It's one of those, 'No, my sweet, no thinking. There can only be playing of the game' moments that Capcom love oh so much.

With the amount of sensitive information going through that place, I'm sure a full internet connection would have been impossible, looking at it from a network security standpoint. Email access (POP3/SMTP) would have been the most they probably would have gotten.

Perhaps at the time, she thought she would be fine, but only wanted to give everyone a heads up that she was still alive?

It's probably like where I work. We have an internal e-mail system which can e-mail outside as well, but no access to the internet. At the time she wanted to let Chris know he was being monitored and e-mailed Leon. She wouldn't exactly have been able to google any e-mail addresses for other authorities.
