I going to agree with Archelon on this one. Kramer's job is to sell a product in this case RE 5 so he needs to know everything about the game, he doesn't need to remember every supporting and minor character from the previous games.

I've not listened to it, but based on what people say here... it seems like it's a bit of a mess going on.
I wholeheartedly agree with what Archelon says, though.
You can't expect someone to know every single corner and nook of something the same way as the fanbase does. The fate of character X, if not relevant to your current product, isn't something that person should worry about either. Though, of course, it would be nice if they did some slight catch up before an interview or when the time to actively pimp Darkside Chronicles draws nearer.
Chris Kramer is in Marketing/PR, not a developer or a script writer. Marketing of course sometimes have a little bit to say in the development, or require a tiny bit of overview over things. Based on what I see on his MobyGames entry, it seems like he's been with Capcom for somewhere around 2-3 years now. Expecting him to know all the dirty facts on every single title of Capcom's backlog over just that short a period is being a bit harsh (even catching up on 10 years of RE history could be hard.)
Of course, it'd be totally rad to have someone know all his/her facts and answers. That stuff is always awesome.
But like Archelon also said, there may be a problem with the way you ask a question too.
You can't always expect someone to be able to fully/properly answer something short and blunt. Especially if it comes out all personal/accusational. It's an interview, not an interrogation from the fanbase.
When you ask a question, especially in this context, you represent someone, but since it may have external interest in general, the question should be just as content heavy/informative as some answers may be. (This is for main questions, follow up questions to already established information in the conversation can be short/more direct. But the opening questions for various topics should pretty much contain "what we know" and "what we want to know")
Slight editing of an interview is almost always required, too. Especially if it's a recorded one and not something written. A lot of random nonsense and "ehms... uhm... errr"s that really do belong on the cutting room floor tend to make it in if you do that. Listening to that kind of stuff can both be painful, annoying and somewhat harmful. (Questions to ask to some of that kind of stuff is "Are you a fan or a dedicated hater?")

He should be expected to know these things.sigpic

Listening to some of his answers again, I almost wonder if it wasn't so much due to lack of knowledge as it was he wasn't sure just what he could and could not reveal. Game Informer mentioned the CODE: Veronica scenario and the new one starring Leon set in South America, but I wonder if that was something Capcom hadn't intended to be revealed so early, or if they even knew GI mentioned it. He seemed to be caught a bit off guard when asked about it.
The same thing with Sherry appearing in the RE2 scenario. He may not have been aware Kawata already came out and said Sherry would be in it

I think in the past Capcom have been burned by forward promoting things too early. Think of RE1.5, RE3.5 (The trailer with the tenative 200X release date at the end), even features in RE5 (heat exhaustion, adjusting to altered light levels), RE4-style UC. And even in all the above examples - The info came out of Capcom Japan, not any of their Western branches. I don't think Kramer will be told much until the game is nearly ready for release.sigpic

I know that, but I was just trying to inform people who don't read every THIA news every day, day and night...casual readers.
and however, Haha what? your "ahah" is not funny at all... i don't like how THIA is becoming full of futile sarcasms and rudeness latelyLast edited by Sunglasses; 04-20-2009, 06:58 PM.
