Okay, why RE0 sucks... Bad story, bad dialogue, bad characters, REALLY bad enemies (giant frogs, scorpions and centipedes... Really? They injected the T-virus into centipedes?) And it's not so much that, it's that all these frogs and centipedes don't seem to have violently mutated or changed much, they're just normal looking except enlarged.
Probably the best set of heroes in the whole series. Rebecca didn't act like a rookie moron like Jill in RE1 or Leon iN RE2 or a skanky slut slut like Jill in RE3. Billy was macho but only really at the start and he leveled out to be probably the deepest male lead we've seen thus far.
As for dialogue...same as any other RE game. Better than most in a few areas.

Bends space and time. Did you know that there was a gigantic underground treatment plant under the gigantic RE2 lab that was way under Rakkoon city? And nevermind that, the Umbrella labs were supposed to be working normally at this time since it was way before Birkin went berserk, but they're crawling with mutants and has a renegade failed Tyrant running around. And also, Enrico Marini, starting in the Arklay woods, somehow beat a highspeed train on foot and made it into the miles down RE2 lab, and then made it all the way back to enter the RE1 mansion. And things that should've been awesome like listening to Birkin and Wesker have conversations for the first time were just inexcusably poorly written.
The NPCs can go anywhere and do anything. Been that way in any RE game sow hat Enrico did doesn't really matter.
Also Birkin'a nd Wesker's dialogue was the only good dialogue Wesker's had outside RE1. He sounds like...I dunno, a villain and not something taken out of, you guessed it, a comic book.
Or in the case of RE4, a James Bond film.
CVX Wesker: Look at teh power11111
RE4 Wesker: *turns around in chair* We meet again, Mr. Redfield.
RE5 Wesker: I'll kill everyone in the world and rule over absolutely nothing! Aren't I brilliant?!!
REZero and 1: I want money and I'll backstab my company to get it.

He's actually making snese in REZero.

As for Birkin's lab being infected, no one even know show or when that happened. He broke the T-virus tubes in the sewers and they were spread by rats to the city. How it got down to his lab is a total unknown.

This game is just so goddamn sloppy and illogical even for a RE game. The logistics of Marcus rotting skeletal remains being revived by his mutant leeches, by entering through his mouth and... somehow rebuilding his cells, even though his brain was a rotten pile of mush at this point. Not only reviving him, but letting him morph into a younger version of himself at will, and morph into leeches, and then have the ability to telepathically control these leeches, or control them with opera singing, whatever. It's just too stupid to even attempt making it seem plausible.
Makes about just as much sense as a human being going from this

    to this

And let's also not forget Alexia's magic abilities to summon hentai tentacles and fire with no explanation. Not even a vague attempt at one.

Plus there's also that Umbrella discovered a chemical in the brain of teenagers that makes you a Tyrant.

The RE science doesn't make sense. Never has, never will.

And then as the icing on the cake you have to play as that fucking 12 year old boy Rebecca Chambers, along with ultimate cliché not really guilty criminal Billy Cohen. I liked the sound the .45 made, though.
Yeah I was sad too. I wanted to play a skanky retard or a super spy biker girl.
Oh and thank God Billy was only in one game while Chris Redfield was in so many. That way we avoided having a stereotypical male lead who was bland and...oh wait.

I'm sort of...'meh' when it comes to Zero. I really liked the train section, the beginning was the best part in my opinion. The rest of the game was a little lackluster.

The Tyrant was espeically weak. I know it was only a Prototype but I expected more from it.

I don't know, Zero had some good parts but it felt really pointless. I can't remember anything it shed light on (apart from giving us the fantastic relationship between Birkin and Wesker) and it's just...there for me.

Really this system is from the original Alone in the Dark (1992). I didn't have any problem with the system at all since it was my favorite 3DO game. At least you don't waste herbs to free up your inventory

Eh, the environments didn't exactly resonate with me. While I thought the vintage lab environments with all that mold and those tubes and canisters were cool, the gothic church and training facility I didn't take to.

While I too didn't like the idea of taking random animals and multiplying their size, the plague crawlers always kept me on edge. The noises they made were just, *brrrrr*...fuck I'm getting chills thinking of it. Plus they did a great job with the mimicry Marci (lol that would be the plural wouldn't it?). You would just dread encountering them, especially considering how clunky the molotov cocktails could be.

I would say I only enjoyed two pieces of music in the film: the main hall of the training facility (those Capcom composers put a lot of thought to those portions, don't they?), especially when the echoed vocals kick in, and the mimicry Marcus leitmotif (i.e. that blossoming flute; I was excited when I heard it in RE5).

The co-op gameplay I never had a problem with. I had some snags with the item dropping system though (it led to me leaving the grenade launcher in the church).

Overall, while it definitely has its pluses, I feel it's the weakest of the main series. I've played it twice, and it seems that anytime I try to do so again, I'm put off by what I feel is just an inconsistent ugliness about it. The present plot is weak, but I always welcome the history of Umbrella through files and flashbacks. While Marcus is a great insight into Birkin's paranoia and Wesker's mistrust towards Spencer and Umbrella, I feel Capcom ultimately misses the mark for any potential impact in the execution of that character.

That one "Leech Hunt" (I don't think I titled it right) bonus game was a pain in the ass!!

^ I know, you never realize how big that training facility is until you play the bonus game lol. It's pretty entertaining, but hard like you said. I think they should included a few more weapons to unlock for it though.

Shit, ain't that the truth? Well it was rewarding afterwards but then I got tired of it. Unlimited ammo takes out the fun in everything.

Exactly. I would have also been cool if you could have unlocked those alternate outfits in the real game...you couldn't right? It's been awhile lol.

RE Zero is my favorite game in the series.
+had the best resident evil graphics. RE5 looked better, but it didn't look like a RE game.
+best weapons set. Nothing insane, like the tri-bolt gun or electric bolt gun thing. And molotov cocktails were awesome.
+best main character. Rebecca > Jill or Claire any day.
+best old mini game. Doesn't compare to merc's in 4 or 5, but better than RE2, RE3, RECV, and did RE1 even have one?
+had two players you could switch between. Why can't 5's single player do this?
+best controls. Most resent controls in an actual RE game.
+best zombies. Other than RE2's zombies, these where the best in the series, they felt like zombies.

                    -bosses were dumb
                    -monkeys were douche bags
-Rebecca should have shot billy as soon a she found him and the whole game should have been about her.

Yeah I know, it sucks. Billy alternate costume is pretty cool. Rebecca was alright but it could have been better.

Zero was the first cube game I've played and I loved it.
Bosses were cool, they were just ordinary bugs, story telling that they tried infecting every possible thing with the t virus to discover potential BOWs. The only thing I didn't like about zero is that they won't tell much about the bravo team, anyway in remake they wont tell much about the characters either.... And both zero and remake are among my favourite resident evils

Zero was the reason I bought a GC. lol

They had a special $99 GC + your choice of one of three games for free. Zero was one of those games, so I picked it up.

                              My favorite things in 0

Rebecca & Billy and the ablilty to switch. Co-op would have been so sweet..

The zombies are so realized. The graphics are so sharp and bring out
                              their detail.

The music will crawl under your skin.

The CG cinemas are gorgeous. Billy's flashback and the ending are
                              superb.

damn is Zero that bad? i mean ive heard mixed reviews about it but its mostly bad
because it wasnt as good as REmake and it was released shortly after REmake.
