Have to agree, Only Richard can be Richard
A Voice actor will only fail if they try to emulate another.
Though, I thought that D.C. Douglass at times put a little too much emotion in his voice but then again, I am more preferred to Richard Waugh.

See I liked the emotion that he put into the voice. I feel Richard gave the character a unmistakeable voice but he was real monotone almost sounded like a robot.
Every time Wesker spoke in RE5 there was something wrong with the way he sounded, sure he had a few cool lines but he just did't sound like Wesker. I don't like Douglas as Wesker's VA. He just doesn't fit, when i think of Wesker i think of Richard Waugh.
I think Richard Waugh is the best VA for Wesker, but i chose Sergio Jones though because of the colosal talent that man had in delivering his lines in RE1.
But other than that i think Richard Waugh was perfect for Wesker, and should have stayed as his VA forever. I was watching Wesker's Report Recently and i just love the tone and the sound of his voice as he utters the opening words... "My name is Albert Wesker, i aspired to become a leading researcher at Umbrella Inc.... That Voice acting there is just amazing, it's the perfect tone and mood for Wesker i think. Plus i really liked his line in CVX about Chris. You know the one, he put so much emotion into it... "I. Hate. Chris. Redfield!!!. Just pure brillance. nothing can top Richard Waugh in being Wesker's VA. I want a T shirt with Wesker's head and a speach bubble with that written in it.
I liked Peter Jessop as well but sometimes he sounded just a little monotonus.
And about Wesker's VA, I'm kinda torn apart. While I think that Waugh was perfect for the post-RE1 Wesker with his snooty attitude and self-assurance, I also like what Douglas did with Wesker in RE5 - actually gave him human emotions like anger.
I also think that Jessop did an excellent job with portraying Wesker as a commander of a special unit. His "Jill no!" was so cold and commanding, something I wouldn't imagine if Waugh would do it.
And of course there's our Sergio Jones with his "No, you're wrong!" and "Chris? Stop it!" ;).
I always though Waugh was superb, and to be honest totally not replaceable. Until, we got that first real cinematic trailer for Resident Evil 5, and since then Douglass for me has shone, and did throughout the game. So it's Douglass for me, definately.
