The fact that they worked together, plotted together and helped assassinate a man. I know there is no honor among thefts but Wesker talked highly of Birkin and even trusted him enough to take an experiment virus that would bring him back to life.

Um...Wesker and Spencer were never friends. Spencer saw Wesker as a pawn, Wesker saw Spencer as untrustworthy and sought to betray him. Spencer was also highly reclusive as well. Following orders doesn't make you someone's friend. Wesker and Birkin killed Marcus because it furthered both of their careers. Birkin probably saw Wesker as some sort of ally, but not friend. Same with Wesker trusting Birkin. Trust doesn't equal friendship. Wesker saying Birkin was a better scientist wasn't him being nice, it was stating a fact. Wesker trusted Birkin because he knew the man was very talented.

I didnt even realize that I messed up, I meant that Wesker and Birkin were friends but even that is debatable.

I liked the idea of the using serum to slow down Wesker but when it was given it to him it seemed like it didn't work that well.... I also think it probably one of those moments when someone was sitting around a conference table discussing the story and was like "O HAI GUYZ... we should blah blah blah virus....blah blah inject him blah blah"

he was actually expecting Wesker to shows up in RE5, so no. In fact, not only Spencer knew Albert was faking death, he was the one who kind of help Albert Wesker to fake his death by giving Birkin the virus, who then gave to Wesker.

For all we know Birkin developed the Wesker virus for Spencer. Wesker and Spencer were good friends but i don't think Birkin had the same ideas as Wesker ie: leaving Umbrella and selling said viruses. I recently saw the cutscence from 0 where Birkin tells Wesker he needs more time to work on the G virus and Wesker said he was gonna go threw with his plans. It seemed like he would have joined Wesker but wasn't ready to give up what he called his lives work. Bottom line, Birkin needed Spencer and his company to do his work and couldn't take the risk on following Wesker. He was probably playing both sides seeing what would benefit himself.

Birkin was not planning to leave Umbrella at all once Wesker had gone. He believed that the completion of the G-Virus would earn him a position on Umbrella's board of execs. A file in RE2 states this.
It is only when Birkin believes this is not going to happen and that his work may be taken away from him did he approach the US Government with a plan to leave Umbrella.

I'm sure Spencer is just expecting only Albert Wesker. In the cutscene, he told Albert that he was the only survivor of the Wesker Children. Spencer wouldn't have expect any other Weskers to show up as he know they are all dead.

Spencer couldn't have known Albert was alive, unless it was pretty much late arrival
and Spencer presumed they were all dead until he saw Albert at that moment in
2006(8 years).

I guess he was expecting any of them to show up much earlier, Albert just faked his
own death to start anew and get away from the clutches of Umbrella. Spencer was
like "It's about damn time! I thought you were all dead!" & "Ready to take over!?"

the whole children of weskers was stupid only one survive . and he was tool from umbrella and pissed wanted take over world like a villain in comics. maybe wesker did read too much comics. so he killed Spencer cause wanted to take over like a god. Wesker & William was good friends and smart but unlucky for William almost got killed injected himself with the G-virus so etc. i quess in way Wesker wanted his Revenge for what happen to him but failed he has. but i hope capcom lets him stay dead ,and we can have a new villain to talk to about in hopefully in Re6.
