did anyone else get slightly annoyed at how much the word partner was brought up in the game. My partner this, my partner, i have to save my partner, she was my partner. I mean we know this game relies heavily on a partner based play but dang, sometimes it was like those kid TV shows that try to instill good morals about being friends

Partnership was the main theme in RE5, just like family was a theme in CVX. I feel as though the VAs delivered the lines just fine without forcing out emphasis on the word "partner." I suppose I can't argue with you as it is simply your opinion and I understand it to some degree, but I was never annoyed with it. In fact, I really enjoyed it. It showed a human side to the characters, a deeper side to them that was based on both their jobs and their personal lives.

That scene would be far less painful if she had just said "me" instead of "partner".

I guess it could be interpreted either way. I took it as referring to herself, since he was arguing against what she was telling him to do. I also took the look Chris gave Sheva as a moment of internal conflict, choosing between old partner and new.

Well it wasn't too annoying but like you said when she said don't you trust your partner, i don't really feel the need for that word there. Really what i was saying is sometimes using the word partner was un nessary, like the example with jill above, or in the beginning when she says lets go partner, she could have just said lets go.

"Ready partner?" "Locked and loaded."
"Don't you trust your partner?"
"We're partners. To the end."
"'Hanks, pahtnah!"
"Let's go, partner!"
Guaghh! Help... me!! I'm not... gonna make it!
"Vegeta! What's the partner count?"
"...It's OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!"
I believe that explains my stance rather well.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 05-07-2009, 10:51 PM.

Yeah! I always think about that
And nice interpretations about that Jill scene
For me, she was referring to herself, and to make Chris's mind
I think she was a little disappointed with Chris, like if he didn't see her as his partner anymore
In this game, I think Chris is definitely in love with her, but Jill just see him as a good friend

Go figure. Jill's "don't you trust your partner?" is probably my favorite line in the game in terms of the delivery in conjunction with the scene and situation, right up there with Sheva's "like hell you will!"
Anyway, I loved the partner aspect and hope it returns for RE6, particularly for gameplay purposes. However, I'd like one of the characters to be an existing, zombie-killing vet, and the other to someone like how Claire was in RE2; a partner who's inexperienced in combat for the most part. Someone who's totally new to this kind of situation, and create some interesting interaction the two characters; a mentor and a student kind of thing.Last edited by LVL100 Merchant; 05-08-2009, 12:22 AM.

I always felt the Partner stuff was very natural, barring that one scene with Jill which people have discussed. I came to the conclusion that she was referring to both of them. "Trust me to be okay and trust Sheva to help you do this" sort of thing.
