  • Character Signatures

    Hey there everybody,

I've been a long time reader, short time member and I have a request please.

Does anybody have picture referances of the hand written signatures from the ID cards of the main characters from the main Resident Evil games?

I've done a quick search and couldn't find any topics!

I've bee working on ID cards for a while now and have always stumbled when it come of the sigs! I've got a good-ish Brian Irons one, but that's about it, all the others I've done have been guessed at!

By the way, a couple of my efforts so far!

I've gone over Chris and Jill's from the REmake/REbirth character selection screen quickly.

    Chris
    Jill
((Transparent .PNG rough versions of Chris and Jill's signatures)).
If you smoothed and dropped the contrast, added stroke/inside or a colour overlay it looks better on the S.T.A.R.S. Badges. However, the faint sections of those are basically marking out where they've used less pressure when signing as either way, signed onto the card/badge itself or scanned and printed... there are going to be pressure differences as well as smudging on the signature.

    Character Select - Chris
    Character Select - Jill

Hopefully these are helpful to you, I actually made some of the badges a while ago so I'll have a look and see if I can find any of my old .PSDs' and export them if they'll be of any use to you (signatures, textures and I have some character headshots somewhere).

That would be great thanx, and I'm sure that those sigs that you have already posted will come in handy, great stuff.

Is it just me or does Chris's signature look like that of a 3rd grader who is just beginning to learn cursive?

I would have smoothed them, but I'm just too tired at the moment. I believe I have also made the actual metal badge in Photoshop. I'll have a look for it all and I'll upload them into transparent .PNGs. If you need the .PSDs' then drop me a PM (I also think I have an edit base for the Character selection screen if you wanted that too). I can also have a go at reproducing the signatures by hand later today, I'll also have a look for the font that is an absolute ringer for Jill's signature and see if I still have it on my older computers.

It does slightly - I actually had the same thought when I initially saw it, however I think his handwriting is fairly neat in contrast to most men his age (at the time of RE/RE1). Which is why it's a slight pain to reproduce digitally or physically/by hand.

If you could have a go at reproducing it free-hand that yould be great, I've tried and I'm just not up to it!

I've got a digital pen so I could try it when I get a chance to go home and grab it lol.

About that...I've always wondered why the older you get, the more your signature looks "stylized." I've always signed forms more or less precisely, I guess I'm just not good at it.

Is there any better picture from Jill's STARS card?

These are the only Remake ones I could ever find, there are select screens for other games in the series that use ID cards with sigs of course, but none better quality/as clear as these I don't think!!!

Just installed my AGING old copy of Resi 1 for the PC, man are those old boxes BIG!

Thought I may have been able to increase the screen size and get a better cap of the character select screen, but NO, still 640x480???

I've done Jill's, I'm working on Chris' and Irons' at the moment.
I'm going to do the REmake and RE ones as close as I can get, if I can find my other pens then I'll try and do them in - regular ballpoint, fine-line and standard marker/"texta".

Was going through the REmake background files with a friend today (we had my laptop hooked up to the HD television) so we could have a good look at the enlarged/zoomed in detail, now this is purely speculation but we were having a look at some stuff posted/stuck on the walls in some of the rooms and my friend is fairly new to the RE and she hasn't seen any of the REmake backgrounds/files...etc before and has been helping me take notes on smaller details... if I can enhance the room's files in particular then I might be able to come up with another character's signature or two off a 2 Hour Parking ticket and/or Fine as the text on the section itself is hand-written and not printed, the handwriting also appears similar to the upside-down post-it notes in the Tyrant lab. I'm not saying yes or no to this yet, but together we got quite a few little details thrown into the backgrounds and on the overall it would be the best case scenario if it's say... Wesker's signature or someone else that could be of use, worst case - it's absolutely blurred or shown to be printed text. Anyway.

So, whilst I'm scanning stuff I'm going to have a double-check over files and see what I can enhance and then reproduce digitally and by hand. I've found a few old discs that might have fonts on them that match signatures used in the past for Chris and Jill. Once I've dropped this into either a .ZIP or a .RAR, I'll send it all your way PlopPlop.

Aris13, yes I noticed that the first time. Seems Chris is either extremely attracted to shiny objects or has a penchant for small, "lucky charms". With what he deals with, I'd go with the latter as he certainly does need them from time to time.

I think it's mentioned somewhere, or I've just assumed it all along that it is Chris' lucky penny?

Enetirnel that sounds great, all the detail in the blown up backgrounds especally, and I think that you should post your findings in their own topic as myself and many others will be very interested in what you may find.
