The Co-producer of RE 5 said at comic con that Wesker is gone for good.

Glad to hear that. Although Wesker was quite cool, they can't go on with the Wesker vs Chris thing forever. He already died once at the end of RE1... it would be really bad writing to have him return from the dead again.

Also, the guy fell in a volcano and got 2 rockets fired on him. There is no way Capcom can give a decent explanation how he could have survived that.

          • ...a decent one? No. But this is Capcom. A crap one will do at a pinch. I think the bookies are currently favouring 'it was really a clone!' closely followed by 'he ducked the rockets!'

            • That would suck... I don't think fans of the series would accept such an explanation.
They could however have another Wesker instead of Albert... created by the same Wesker project that created Albert Wesker.

Personally I would much rather see another villain... we've seen enough of Wesker already I think. There are still some other guys left like Nicholai and Hunk. Although they are just soldiers, they could be hired by Tricell or another company (same as Nicholai in RE3).

i finished RE5 in a matter of days because iw as so hardcore on it, not like any other game, thats how much i love Resident Evil

i hve heard that the ending was abit dodgy frmo a friend, but i told him dont say anymore, also i knew that RE6 was going to be a reboot, even before i played the game, he later returned to me that i was right about that, and that put me into abit of a dismay, nevertheless i played it as i would love to.

As we all know how it ends, i will not mention it, however i did feel that RE5 was a very good game, however again what i thought was that because they finally brought Wesker out of the closest into a proper role of the game series since maybe RE1?, i didnt feel it was right for them to kill him off, at least i would say, give him this game to show what are his intentions, let them fail and let him live for one more game, so it will be all epic and badass. for crying out loud, just ONE more game, end it on an even number.

i know it maybe impossible now, but i always thought what would be great, if it turned out to be a false ending and not the 'True' ending that is quite traditional in the RE games. and with the PC version coming out very soon, they could always redo the ending to make things a tiny bit easier for them in the future series. For the home console versions, maybe an update with an extra level to give wat they would say the 'true' ending of the game itself?

but how can one recover from that? Lava, there's nothing that can beat Volcanic Lava, shitload of bullets, stabbings and 2 Rocket Launchers to die and not surivive.

I would propose to Capcom that the Albert Wesker we see is not really the Wesker we all know, but infact one the Wesker children, that was acting as a hand puppet by the real Wesker elsewhere, this would make a alternative meaning why Wesker in RE5 didnt knew he was an experiment, only the greatest and smartest of them all would know of it, hence the REAL Albert Wesker would indeed know this.

it is a tiny bit downhearting still that they potentially ruined their own series by bringing in new generation staff to take over and create a vastly different story and drift away from the style that Resident Evil was. im nto saying RE4 was a good bad, it was an excellent game, and brought alot of new gamers to the series, however it would still be nice if they kept it original but with new ideas to please both worlds today.

Whats actually heartbreaking is that Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, is to be released, that game in my point of view, is an abomination to the series, and to RE2 (the best game in the series in my opinion) and RE:CV. What would have been excellent ws if they remade RE2 very much like how they remake RE:1 for the Gamecube, but where in next generation gaming business, there's so much they could take advantage of, but i guess, thats Capcom for you since 2002

                • Wesker has had several major roles...he's the main villain of RE1 and CODE: Veronica (I count him as the main villain in Veronica because he directly causes the Outbreaks, rather than the Ashfords) and has the star role in Umbrella Chronicles too. On top of that he's been involved in pretty much every major outbreak to a greater or lesser degree, broke Umbrella across his knee, took control of most of it's infrastructure...yeah. The RE series has been pretty much driven by him.

As for this Wesker being a clone...he's been back from the dead twice already. It is possible that this was a clone or something (not, I hasten to add, another of the Wesker Children...the Children are not related to each other directly and there was no genetic manipulation, so none of the others should look like Albert) but it's a bad idea, as it brings the series back into revolving around Wesker. And makes Resident Evil 5 extraordinarily pointless. At best it would delay the real Wesker a week or two before he could launch Uroborus himself. No, if Wesker made it out of 5 alive the story is shot to hell, because Wesker will look like an idiot for not destroying the world while everyone thinks he's dead.

                  • I pretty much remember the game saying all the Wesker Children were dead, and good riddance, too. That whole thing they added about Wesker was just dumb.

Spencer also explained that the virus giving Wesker his strength was created for the purpose of artificial selection, to filter out the more special Wesker Children. However, the process ended up killing most of them, leaving Wesker the only survivor circa 2006. Source

                    • I'm glad that Capcom confirmed that Wesker died at the end of RE5, but the fact that people weren't really sure if he had died or not means that they didn't do a very good job on his death scene. They didn't direct the scene properly. Having those rockets go right at his head, and then his head getting pushed back, it made fans unsure if he had survived or not because the rockets went into the lava, so fans weren't sure if the rockets had really hit his head or they hit the lava, because it happened so fast.

They should have had the rockets hit his body, not his head. The ending was bad if it left fans unsure like that. The rockets could have hit his body, and Wesker could have screamed, and they should have showed more of the lava exploding. Wesker's death scene was rushed.

Not really. Fans just didn't want to believe it because he's come back from the dead before and he has a lot of fans who didn't want to accept their favourite character was gone. What biological being (flesh and blood) could survive being in that close proximity to a rocket launcher blast, followed by being drowned in molten lava?

The Wesker Children are not clones. The Wesker you saw in RE5 was the Wesker you've been seeing since Resident Evil 1.

                          • Or if Capcom feels extra dumb, robot Wesker! How would that would with the being infected by a biological virus? He, uh, had fleshy bits like the Terminator. Yeah! And that's how he survived the molten lava, because that one in Terminator 2 is a pussy and WeskerBot's iron skeleton and sungalsses can manage molten lava just fine!

Oh God, why do I keep giving them ideas? They make enough stupid choices without my help as it is...

                            • Didn't Wesker die in RE1 also? I kinda hope he stays dead this time though. The series needs a reboot with unmatrixlike characters

                              • Honestly, I'm not sure how many of us ancients would survive a reboot. The story is about all that keeps some of us interested...

And yeah, Wesker 'died' in the first game. But that was merely massive claws disemboweling him horribly. They later retconned it so he didn't die because he had the Wesker Virus in his system which regenerated him. However, the Wesker Virus is weak to fire. Uroborus is weak to fire. Wesker ended up in a volcano, full of fire. It's safe to say he'd dead.

Or at least had everything below the waste burned off.
