I kept looking at the zombie A.I in 1.5 and ive got to say they defintely made zombies even more stupider in re2 like shaun of the dead stupid so in 1.5 zombies they defintely come in more larger backs they crawl threw small objects and climb up and down stuff while in other games zombies throw up on your shoe -_-. They even walk faster which resident evil 3 eventually picked up on so I just wondered why make the zombies stupider in re2 and not keep the re 1.5 zombies. Not to meachin the diversity in zombies in 1.5

Capcom decided to just scrap that kind of zombie to environment interaction. It wouldn't have worked in RE2's environment.
Climbing over stuff might have, though.
And besides, giving the RPD a modern look might undermine the story, considering the fact that Raccoon City was founded in a time where that kind of architectural design would've fit in.
Overall, 1.5 would probably have not been as good RE2 if released the way it is. Capcom knew what it was doing and scrapped it for those reasons and more.
Of course, to get our hands on the demo...
Now that is something none of us would mind.

Anyway, back on main topic.
Zombie behavior in 1.5 was pretty neat in my opinion. I liked how some zombies would make a sudden dash at you after you shoot them. I also liked how they could climb up on things as well.
Actually, there aren't that many more variant of zombies in 1.5 compared to retail:
1.5
Civilian
Cop
Fat Cop White
Fat Cop Black
Female Zombie
Lab Coat Zombie
Retail
Civilian Black Shirt
Civilian Yellowish Shirt
Civilian Female
Cop
Lab Coat Zombie
Naked Zombie
I think that's it. So in fact they have the same amount of zombies. This is assuming the 1.5 Female Zombie was intended to be in the final product. She appeared in an early build, but was missing in any and all future build media.Last edited by Alzaire; 07-31-2009, 03:13 AM.sigpic

I like the retail RE2 AI more because, when the zombies are properly placed, it allows for some strategic movement across the room. In RE2, just about any room can be done without firing a single shot or taking damage, wich seems impossible in 1.5 due to the rushing zombies and claustrofobic rooms. Plus, the whole climbing and crawling stuff seems scripted to me.Last edited by Rock it.; 07-31-2009, 03:45 AM.

Ah, 1.5. I've always dreamed of Capcom one day releasing a disc with demos of all the unreleased games (yea right lol). I'd love to play 1.5 but I'd really be interested in playing 3.5 ( especially the last build where Leon supposedly fought zombies ) and even getting to see where they were going with "evil may cry", before they decided to turn it into a whole new franchise. I thought the zombie a.i. was very creepy in RE2, and it really looked a bit harder and scarier which is probably a good thing. Personally, one of the biggest things I miss about 1.5, is the gore. LOOK AT IT lol.

You can do that in RE2 with the shotgun too but it hardly ever happens don't forget the female bus crawl either that seems to be reused from the zombie in re1 near the 1st floor statue area.
The main thing I miss gore wise is seeing the bone in the arms of certain zombies that you see during the Elza videos in the lab.If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

The only reason you'd have for not liking 1.5 is because you can't easily speed run it wtf that has to the shittiest reason ever.
I was talking about how careful examination of the RE2 rooms would reveal a path that the player could take to avoid wasting ammo and taking damage, and this path is not always that clear, sometimes requiring baiting the enemy or knocking it down. Having zombies rushing at you the moment you shoot them would not make things more challenging, just a lot more frustrating.
If you think the game's not challenging as it is, PLEASE, be my guest and do try to finish RE2 using only the knife or taking no damage, just like I frickin' do.
