I liked the game even though it was dumbed down on the gore.

No magnum pops was just wrong. I'm not sure how realistic it is that a head completely explodes when shot with a magnum, but you NEED that satisfying sound when you waste a magnum bullet on a zombie.Last edited by Anders; 08-08-2009, 11:43 PM.

As for the magnum, it still produces the spray of gore and pop sound. The only thing different is the head not coming apart.Last edited by Dot50Cal; 08-09-2009, 12:35 AM.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember ever seeing a Bandersnatch pop Claire's head off and interact with her corpse, in both versions.
I've played CV a few times and gameplay wise, it's not my favourite. I find the level of backtracking repetitive and I think it's a difficult game when compared to the others. I love the story though and it's definitely one of my favourites, just not my favourites to play.

Vixtro - Aside from the Nextech stuff, Sega provided other program middleware and technical skills and staff into getting Code Veronica running. There is actually a credit section in the credits showing as much where a bunch of people from Sega of Japan are credited for their support work.
Eidos was Capcom's European publisher between 1999 and 2002 (Virgin Interactive prior to this and EA post for all until they set up their own distribution and European offices in the UK and Germany). Capcom still currently sub-distributes it's games in Europe via EA in countries other than the UK and Germany and via Atari in Australia and New Zealand.
The "censorship" was self imposed in the wake of the media coverage on violent material in entertainment in Japan reported on in early to mid 1999. The impact of this overall was the system in Japan which was retooled into their now used CERO rating system from 2002 onwards. If you watch earlier beta video material you see far more bloodier killing effects.Last edited by Rombie; 08-09-2009, 05:51 PM.

Wow, I'm surprised at the general amount of dislike for what is in my opinion one of the top games of the series.
What CVX lacked in gore, it made up for with its incredibly dark story. Predicable? Perhaps. But in general I found it to be a lot creepier than any other RE game, sans Remake (and that was more environment than story). I don't know, I guess I don't need to see my character's head pop like a balloon or see them get sawed in half to enjoy a game.
However, I will admit that the lack of exploding zombie heads was a bit of a disappointment. Especially with the shotgun. You shouldn't be wasting your magnum rounds on zombies, anyway.Mass production? Ridiculous!
