Biohazard Beta v2 Backgrounds versus Final

Ahahah. Those. One of my favorites is missing, though, the one showing the RPD staircase.


Anyway, the authenticity of those "Beta v1" pictures have been questioned many times, a lot points towards old photoshops/a hoax. The only source for them was (if memory serves me right) an anonymous "contributor" at one of (if not the original) versions of "The Right Game" (a former RE fansite of the past)

I don't appreciate being called a liar. Especially when I flat out stated "I am not sure in the end." There are a batch of beta images, as Carnivol pointed out, that have their authenticity being questioned due to various reasons. This background is a part of those images. They may or may not be real.

They all have a JP character in them that probably means placeholder or temporary.

I'm still puzzled by the "Air" part, could it be a poorly (mis-)spelled "El"?

Also, the last kanji you see in all of them is 仮, which basically means they are placeholders (graphics).

I just checked it with the retail it uses the same slots as the sparkshot.

Yeah it's basically the sparkshot for sure. I don't know why it's called an "air tazer", but that's what the JP characters come out to. e a- te i zaa which in Japanese pronunciation comes out to pretty sound say Air Tazer. But I think it's safe to say it's placeholder images for the sparkshot.

Ahah... yeah, I remember when those got posted. I don't think it was an aynom contrib, but The Right Game was being hosted by Evil-Online at the time and you couldn't trust anything those guys posted either (this is taking me back to the days of Darkness and his sites after leaving EO, Tom and REE, and EvilGamingnet now... geez).

In short I'm still not sure either, the quality looks like what happened when you ran particular RE titles through older PSX emulation, which doesn't help. But the thing is they still could have just done that with the beta thats in public hands and then still edited the images. The photos, if originally taken from an emulator, would have been quite detailed - but no version ever appeared on TRG bigger than maybe 100 pixels wide the first time they were posted.

If Jerome is around he might be able to comment more anyway, thanks to his archive skills via SurvivHor back in the day.

No, The Right Game went under quite a while back. They kept appearing, vanishing, and coming back several times over between 2001-2006... I lost track after that and I dont think the site ever returned. Wouldn't matter anyway, Ozon - the site's webmaster - kept to himself about most things, so it's unlikely he'd say much.

And no, no pics.

Kendo - Someone maybe able to correct me on this, I believe your version of those images is unused versions pulled off the Japanese demo that came with BHDC.
