This just reminds me I need to re-read all of those novels again. I enjoyed them while suspending canon since I know it had a lot of OC in it. Caliban Cove was a little ridic IMO but I remember being a youngin' and going "wooooah look the zombies have guns and can talk and shit!"

I never got a chance to read Caliban Cove & Underworld yet, but I read most of the others:
1) Resident Evil: Umbrella Conspiracy (Felt like the actual game. The best book in the entire series as well)
2) Resident Evil: City of the Dead (Gotta love how they switch back & forth with Leon/Ada & Claire/Sherry.
3) Resident Evil: Zero Hour (A good read. I liked how the leeches were portrayed in the book, and how they basically had a mind of their own.
I'm half-way through Nemesis, and I haven't really started on Code Veronica at this point. I did, however, get a glimpse of what Wesker said to Chris about his "hard on" for Claire, which gave me a chuckle because it doesn't sound anything like Wesker.
Overall, I feel as though the books are solid enough for a nice read.Last edited by Wesker_101; 08-20-2009, 12:57 AM.

I'd say Umbrella Conspiracy, City of the Dead, and Nemesis were my favorites; Zero Hour was also decent. With Code Veronica, it seemed like a lot of the cool sections from the game were cut out of the book. If I remember correctly, Chris didn't even enter until like 50 pages from the end, and Wesker didn't have enough on-page time, either. Couple that with Perry's horrible portrayal of the character (the "hard-on" line, and acting like a pathetic weasel trying to "persuade" Alexia to come with him) and it's easy to see why this book isn't that great. I don't remember the Claire and Steve sections being that bad, though.
The two original novels were just plain bad if you ask me. The zombies with guns in Caliban Cove and the T-Rex tyrant in Underworld just took it WAY too far. These two probably would have made fun games (which is ironic) but not good books. If I had to pick, I guess Caliban Cove is the better of the two. But it's hard to choose, because Underworld DID have Barry.Mass production? Ridiculous!

Granted, I haven't read the novels in a long time. I read them all when I was, like, in middle school, and I thought they were pretty good, but when I look back at them now, they really aren't great. But still enjoyable, I think. I can't see anyone who isn't an Resident Evil fan enjoying the books, honestly. I really think you have to play the games to enjoy 'em, otherwise you will think the stories are the most ridiculous things ever.
I kind of liked the Trent character, though. All her other original characters were pathetic, but I thought Trent was a nice tie-in for the series. Slightly less plothole-y than the game's canon when you try to connect him to Ada and Wesker.
Speaking of plotholes, Perry is pretty much fucked. So much has changed with the series since she released Zero Hour, and I don't think she'll ever continue the series. I don't particularly mind, but it would be interesting to see her take on the happenings between CVX and RE4... even though it would probably involve Rebecca single-handedly bringing down Umbrella with Perry's OC minions. Yawwwwwwn.

I particularly like all the books. I only own Underworld, but I've read all the books and The Umbrella Conspiracy is my favorite.
And I like Trent! I really wish he could be in the games and I include him in my fanfics sometimes. He is a nice character in my opinion. Something that called my attention was his past background revealed in Underworld.http://www.residentevildatabase.com

City of the Dead
Caliban Cove
Underworld
Nemesis
Code Veronica
Zero Hour
Umbrella Conspiracy
All the books were amazing, I used to own them all but a cheerleader stole a few and the others were lost in me moving. The only one I have left is Zero Hour. I plan to recollect all the books again soon.

The only one I've read was Code: Veronica and oh lord. Poor, poor OOC Wesker. The hard on line damn near killed me. As bad as that bit was, though, I'll give the woman credit. She managed to nail how batshit insane Alfred was.
Granted, that's not very difficult...
