Been playing Chris' story in the original, and it's more than once made me want to eject the disc, snap it in two and slit my wrists. I've been raging so hard on this is not even funny, I even started punching a wall last night in anger. This failure piece of sadistic wank.

Moments of rage:
Yawn 2 fight.
Hunters double-teaming.
Hunter jump-slash then immediately slashing when they hit the ground (double hit of pure failure).
Random zombie damage (I've had a zombie take my from Green Fine right down to Danger with one bite).
Stupid little shortcuts being taken away from Chris (The rope at Trevor's Grave and the Passcode allowing you to get to the library).
Six item slots.
Chris getting more enemies in areas.
Maybe I do need to man up. God damn though.Last edited by randomwab; 09-09-2009, 09:09 AM.

When it comes to going back to the classic resident evil games, I mainly go for the more challenging choice (Chris Redfield), even though there can be some moments of frustration, you always get the most laughs and take pride in your bad-assery.

What really threw me for a loop was when I got into the courtyard, just before the Guardhouse where there are two dogs, and getting killed. I sorta just went wha? The shrugged, loaded up and tried again..then died again. I used to be able to walk through the game without really thinking about it and now damned dogs are eating me?

No issues playing RE1 on the PS3. At least on my 60GB (original). I'll hopefully be able to play again tomorrow. I should have time to finish up the enemy/item/locked doors stuff from the footage I had.
I found my ancient "story" guide. Heres some snippets.
- After searching the East Wing throghougly and exiting into the Second Floor of the Main Hall you will meet Barry. Barry asks if you found anything to which you reply no. Barry then suggests they look for a “Back Door” to the Mansion. Barry then gives Jill some Acid Rounds for the Bazooka (Which you may or may not have depending on which rooms you search first). Jill asks if Barry could use them but he holds his Python and tells Jill he has “THIS!” Afterwards the two separate again.
- If you explore the East Wing thoroughly and exit through the First Floor into the Main Hall you will encounter Barry. The same scene plays as in 015 but it occurs on the First Floor and has ambient music in the background.
- If you explore the East Wing of the mansion and enter “Forests Room” you simply find Forest Speyer's corpse from Bravo Team. Upon searching him a pack of Crows attack you.
- If you explored the West Wing of the Mansion and enter “Forests Room” Barry will be there and you get a new scene. Barry almost blows Jill’s head off because she surprised him. Jill questions why Barry is on the second floor but he shrugs it off and shows her Forests body. The two are in shock but Barry finds Forests weapon (Bazooka) and gives it to Jill. If you examining Barry after the scene ends he says a short sentence.
- If you explore the West Wing more and enter the “Researcher Room” Barry is inside however he appears to be scared. He hands you a file explaining how the person writing it has been infected and will soon be dead. Jill and Barry agree that something is wrong with the house but Jill then notices that a page of the file is missing. Barry wonders if it’s the most important part. Barry then leaves the room.***I know this is wrong, because I explored the West Wing fully. I think this scene is only activated if you either explore the East wing, or trigger the shotgun trap and have him save you.
- If you explored the West Wing first in the Mansion you get a Cutscene with Barry presumably talking to himself in room 002 (He is actually speaking with Wesker). Jill listens in on his conversation as Barry mentions the destruction of S.T.A.R.S. Jill enters the room after the talking has stopped and Barry tells her that he was talking to himself. Jill presses Barry but he keeps his guard up covering himself by saying that it must be the strange situation they are in that is causing him this stress. He then cracks a forced joke and leaves the room.***This too is wrong.
- If you fight Plant 42 without applying the V-Jolt and explore the East Wing of the Mansion first then after Plant 42 is “Killed” it attacks again and scoops Jill up. Luckily Barry enters the room and douses the plant with a flamethrower. The plant writhes in pain and drops Jill before dying. Jill then thanks Barry for saving her life. Afterwards Barry wonders what the hell is this place. If you examine Barry again he says he's going to stay in the “Soldiers Area” and investigate. Presumable he is speaking about the Guardhouse and meant “Researchers Area”. Perhaps this was a mis-translation.
- If you explored the West Wing first and got the Barry 002 room sequence then an extended version of the Wesker meeting will play.
- If Jill says No to going with Barry then yes that she will stay here Barry leaves discouraged into the next room.
- If Jill says Yes to go with Barry and Yes to him going first Barry will lead the way into the next room. As Jill approaches the door she hears a gunshot.
- If Jill says No to go with Barry and No to staying there Barry will leave discouraged but you will have a chance to redeem yourself. You hear a gunshot from the next room.
- If Jill says Yes to going with Barry but No for him going first you control Jill into the next room with Barry following you.
- If you choose to say YES,YES or NO,NO and enter the door Barry went through after hearing the gunshot you will see Barry killing a Hunter. He then suggests you two stick together.
- If you chose YES,NO then when you attempt to enter the “Enrico Room” a Hunter will drop down and attempt to kill you. Barry however will kill it with his Python.
- Depending on your choices you can either have Barry with you or without you when you meet Enrico.
- If you ignore Barry’s gunshot back in the Catacombs and enter another door you will find Barry dying near the ladder entrance.
- If Barry died in the Catacombs then you will be alone with Wesker.
- If you said No to follow Barry then Yes to staying there Barry will not attack Wesker and leave you for the helipad as ordered by Wesker. You will face the tyrant alone.
- If Barry is alive and you have shown you trust him through your actions then he will attack Wesker and lead you into the Tyrants chamber attempting to stop the creature.
- If you didn’t check on Chris before going to the B4 lab then Chris will ask what happened to Wesker. Afterwards Jill and Chris leave the cell.
- If Barry left for the helipad and didn’t attack Wesker then this scene will play. Barry is shown wounded at the B2 ladder. He dies after some words and hands Jill his family’s picture.
- This is mostly the same scene as above except if you save Chris he too is present and says a few words.
Most of them are probably wrong. However, some are right. Ignore anything with East/West wings.
Quick question though Rob, whats this one mean/change? "2. Wasting time instead of investigating the other rooms."
Is that in regards to Richard, or ?Last edited by Dot50Cal; 09-11-2009, 02:30 AM.

True that, and if you manage to not get bit in the first Yawn fight, you don't play as Rebecca to get the serum."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."
Resident Evil/Castlevania/ Silent Hill/Onimusha/Tekken /Dark Souls

Something I just noticed. If you go the left way in the flooded basement of the Guardhouse, Neptune attacks you without any FMV Nice little touch.
Heres a short video showing how lethal the Hunters in Kenneths room are.
Another thing I noticed. The file "Orders" is to the head of security at the Arklay mansion. It says to lure the S.T.A.R.S. members to the mansion, so Wesker must be the head of security, since he does exactly that. You could argue that he took the role over from whoever was head of security there, but I don't think Capcom thought that far ahead

Yep. Also, I recall there being something about the Colt Python having alternate ammo? Armor piercing rounds IIRC. Theres another ammo type on the disc (at least the image for the display pic) which is different to that of the standard Magnum Rounds.
Is it possible to activate them in-game? If you check the Colt it even says the same type of thing the Bazooka does, since it has multiple ammo types "Magnum Rounds loaded.".
I wonder..
Edit: ah, the trial even has the model for it:
