[Red Queen]

I am currently translating every single file from RE series to portuguese (I am brazilian) and I got stuck into a big doubt when I was checking the Keeper's Diary from Umbrella Chronicles's Mansion Incident chapter when I found out that not only RE1 and Remake versions of the same file are different but I was a little addition in the REUC version of the file.

May 9, 1998
At night, we played Poker with Scott the guard, Alias and Steve
the Researcher. Steve was really lucky, but I think he was
cheating. What a scumbag.

May 10, 1998
Today, a high ranking researcher asked me to take care of a new
monster. It looks like a gorilla without any skin. They told me
to feed them live food. When I threw in a pig, they were playing
with it... tearing off the pig's legs and pulling out the guts
before they actually ate it.

Around 5 o'clock this morning, Scott came in and woke me up
suddenly. He was wearing a protection suit that looks like a
space suit. He told me to put one on as well. I heard there
was an accident in the basement lab. It's no wonder, those
researchers never rest, even at night.

I've been wearing this annoying space suit since yesterday.
My skin grows musty and feels very itchy. By way of revenge,
I didn't feed those dogs today. Now I feel better.

I went to the medical room because my back is all swollen
and feels itchy. They put a big bandage on my back and the
doctor told me I did not need to wear the space suit any
more. I guess I can sleep well tonight.

When I woke up this morning, I found another blister on my
foot. It was annoying and I ended up dragging my foot as I
went to the dogs pen. They have been quiet since morning,
which is very unusual. I found that some of them escaped.
I'll be in real trouble if some
of the higher-ups find out.

Even though I didn't feel well, I decided to go see Nancy.
It's my first day off in a long time. But I was stopped by
the guard on the way out. They say the company has ordered
that no one leave the grounds. I can't even make a phone
call. What kind of joke is this?!

I heard a researcher who tried to escape from this mansion
was shot last night. My entire body feels burning and itchy
at night. When I was scratching the swelling on my arm, a
lump of rotten flesh dropped off. What the hell is happening
to me?

Played poker tonight with Scott and Alias from Security, and Steve from
Research. Steve was the big winner, but I think he was cheating. Scumbag.

One of the higher-ups assigned me to take care of a new creature. It looks
like a skinned gorilla. Feeding instructions were to give it live animals.
When I threw in a pig, the creature seemed to play with it...tearing off the
pig's legs and pulling out the guts before it actually started eating.

At around 5 A.M., Scott woke me up. Scared the shit out me, too. He was
wearing a protective suit. He handed me another one and told me to put it on.
Said there'd been an accident in the basement lab.
I just knew something like this would happen. Those bastards in Research never
sleep, even on holiday.

I've been wearing the damn space suit since yesterday. My skin's getting grimy
and feels itchy all over. The goddamn dogs have been looking at me funny, so I
decided not to feed them today. Screw 'em.

Went to the Infirmary because my back is all swollen and feels itchy. They put
a big bandage on it and told me I didn't need to wear the suit anymore. All I
wanna do is sleep.

I noticed there is an addition to the last sentence in May 11, 1998. But I thought this file was taken from RE Rebirth.


I have checked many websites and FAQS at Gamefaqs only to find out always the same thing: the files are different. I know I should play the Remake to find out and solve this "mystery" but I'm not really into playing anything right now, so I came here because I know there really are some experts in this Forum who could help me with this. I just want to know it the versions really are different, specially the Remake and REUC versions.

I can help you with Re3 translations in spanish and tagalog(philippine language) if you want to. I know all there is too it in that game.

Actually, my doubt is about the difference between these files, if they really exist or if the FAQs I've searched are all wrong, which can't be very possible because I checked MANY FAQs and websites and they have the same content. =/

You could find some great translations on other sites especially Asian ones to help with your translation depending on what language you want it to be translated, my friend has translated Re2 on french. I can do Tagalog and Spanish for Re3, try finding asian-made websites to help you with your project.

Ah.. I believe my only option will be playing Remake and reading REUC files in the game itself to check if they are correct and the differences are real.

I can give you some of my spanish translated files if you want but yeah since your doing portuguese translation that's cool. Did you translat Re3 yet?

They re-wrote the files for the REmake, hence the missing entry, they removed it.

The reason the "old" files in UC are somewhat different from the ones in REmake is because they translated them differently. Nothing more.

Check out the files section on http://projectumbrella.net if you want a complete file list, and also if you want to see how different translations affect the files. Some things are missing completely in the English retail games.

Actually the files in Remake and REUC are the same (I mean the Keeper's Diary), the difference is that sentence included in the REUC file, which is not present in the Remake file.
