I always like the Outbreak chatacters. I wished we'd gotten to explore there characters a little more. Especially Yoko.
I never liked RE4 Leon much. His witty one liners aren't witty, and his humour tends to be more annoying than anything. It feels like he's trying to be clever and witty and has been rehearsing a hundred one liners for just such and event. That and his failure to show fear of any kind, even when he really should be afraid, is a large chunk of why I get peeved with RE4.
I definitely prefer the RE2, but I didn't mind Degeration Leon too much. His character made a bit more sense as the quiet, serious agent than it did as Super Awesome One Liner Man. They took it too far, of course, this being Capcom but he felt a little more human than in RE4, where it felt like he'd stepped out of a bad action movie.

Actually, I'd say the opposite would be true. Leon seems to have 2.5 percent more emotions than he did in Degeneration, hehe. Though seriously, in Degeneration he was so damn stoned face and serious. He at least had a playfulness in RE4(ignoring all those damn one liners). But Paul Mercifer really helps ebb the cheese from being eye rolling painful with his deliverly. Had it been another, lesser VA, I imagine it would be a different story.

Anyway, my favorite main series character is easily Wesker (at least before the horrible ending of RE5), with Jill at a very close second and Claire at a not-so-distant third.
I did find it quite odd that a few key characters were omitted from the poll, while Alexia Ashford was a choice. Don't get me wrong - I think Alexia is awesome, and quite possibly the creepiest main RE villain - but William Birkin had just as large a contribution to the series as Alexia did (some may feel he had a greater overall impact on the story). I also found it strange that Billy Coen wasn't a choice, but I guess you could go either way on him as he wasn't really a critical part of the series.
For what it's worth, here's how I feel about the characters listed. Feel free to agree, or disagree (that's the fun part)!
Chris: All-around good guy, loved him in Remake, CVX, and UC. However, I found him flat and boring in RE5, and the roid thing was just ridiculous. If Chris looked like he did in CVX during RE5 (albeit older) I think the game would have been better.
Claire: She's just cool. Has that motherly, feminine side, but also a no-nonsense kickass side. Easily one of the most fun characters to play as for me.
Jill: She's simply the female face of the RE series for me; the most important female protagonist - strong and sexy but still feminine. I don't understand all the recent "Jill drama" (this is RE, not a soap opera), but I do think they raped her character in RE5 even more than they did Wesker's. Making her the "Princess Toadstool" that Chris had to rescue ruined a lot of the story for me. I hope she'll be in future RE games to come, although I'd prefer it if she returned to being brunette.
Rebecca: Aside from the whole "tough-as-nails in RE0 but weak as a butterfly in Remake" thing, she's a decent character. Her storyline is a bit ridiculous to me (graduating college at 18 and deciding to work for... a glorified SWAT team, AND being able to carry firearms!), but I understand why a character like her was needed.
Leon: Liked him in RE2; RE4 was a different story. I did enjoy his one-liners, and he was certainly more interesting than Chris in RE5, but I still see him as a "pretty boy." What I can't stand the most are the RE4 fanboys who think he is the be-all-end-all of RE characters, while not even acknowledging the more important characters of the series.
Barry: Ya gotta love Barry! I really wish they'd put him in another game already! He was an integral part of the mansion incident, and aside from his cheesy awful lines, he was a likable guy.
Wesker: I honestly believe he is the most important, central character to the series. Almost every plot of every main RE game features him behind-the-scenes, pulling the strings. It might just be my blatant fanboyism, but he definitely is the heart (but not the soul, we'll save that for one of the good guys) of Resident Evil for me. However, I've noticed that a lot of people don't care for him or don't understand his appeal, and prior to RE5 I still don't understand their reasoning. But to each their own.
Ada: Never liked her; she's quite possibly my least favorite RE character. I don't see a woman who lies, cheats, backstabs, and manipulates as someone who is attractive in any way. At times I just wished Leon would have shot her in the head for teasing him; it got really old and predictable. Of course, coming from a guy's point of view, my opinion might be a little biased.
Alexia: Creepiest RE villain to date in my opinion. The story of CVX is not only my favorite, but the darkest and most atmospheric in the series. Anyone who can totally school Wesker in combat has to be pretty powerful. Also, being quite a fan of entomology, the whole ant thing was really cool.
Birkin: He should have been in this poll, as much of the series would not have existed without his crazy experiments with the G-virus. I really hope DSC fleshes out his character a bit more; I found him to be a great counterpoint to Wesker's bleak and monotonous attitude.
Feel free to agree or disagree; I'd like to hear some more detailed opinions of the main characters from you guys!Last edited by Det. Beauregard; 08-31-2009, 02:45 PM.Mass production? Ridiculous!

I love how we have yet another Fave. Character poll, considering if you use the search there are at least two or three others (including yet another one just for females). Also dislike how the selection was for just a single character with no option to select more than one.
I really don't have a favorite character. There are traits about most people that I like and dislike. I chose Ada simply because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to select other. I, too, wish the Outbreak characters and some of the characters from other offshoot games were flushed out a bit more. I think Dead Aim and Survivor would be perfect titles to be remade and added on to for the Wii.
These polls are hotbeds for drama and bickering though. Everyone has a different opinion, even if they share the same point of view. I love Jill for instance...there are many good things I think she brought to the series as a character. However, in recent days, I abhor bringing her up in any topic (not just here). Her name is like a stagnant pond that draws mosquitoes and other numerous bugs, making something that could be beautiful a thing to avoid. And I don't see a point in loving any character more than another, or above anything in the series. A story without decent characters often times is not a very good story. And yet a character is nothing without the plot and characters around them that influence their actions.sigpic
Are you tired, Rebecca?
