Huh? Are you referring to the fact that it did something else compared to previous games, because if not, this comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense. While there were hints of it here and there in prior to RE4, it was RE4 that really kick started the terrorist angle that the series has taken on.

Just because Saddler and his cult used their own biological weapon (instead of purchasing it off the black market) doesn't really make it any different from what Degeneration and RE5 did and what Operation: Javier is presumably doing. The only real difference is that Las Plagas wasn't provided by the remnants of Umbrella. Aside from that, it's still essentially the same theme and idea.

If anything, RE4 gave a face to the terrorists that would be using biological weapons, while in RE5 it was more of a "we know they're out there, we just don't know who they are or where they're hiding" type deal. RE4 also showed that there were still very real threats out in the world, completely independent of Umbrella and its research. Degeneration and RE5 kind of mucked that up by basically saying everything had to connect back to Umbrella somehow.

I would honestly rather stay in raccoon city for the rest of the series and let it stagnate. Its better than going into an evil midgets castle who has mind control bugs.... or fighting wesker in the middle of a fucking volcano.

      Just my opinion though.

It kind of already did that.

Really? You only really play inside Raccoon city for RE2 and RE3. It blows up at the end of 3, I dont really think that's stagnating.

I guess you could also point to the Outbreak games and other side games... but I dont really think that stagnates it. Just my opinion again though.

Depends on how you look at it. Darkside chronicles makes it the 7th time we've visited Raccoon City in one form or another.

I loved Raccoon City; the more times we revisit it, the better.
              Mass production? Ridiculous!

I think I would have to agree.

I have to admit, this is the only part of Darkside Chronicles I don't care about. Krauser bores me. He's such a dull character, then again, Capcom really F'ed up Leon in RE4 so lets just hope he is more like his RE2 self.

Was I the only one who found Leon's sudden wit and "genius", as Ada puts it, a bit sudden and annoying. In RE2, he seemed quite simple but innocent and loveable but then RE4 comes a long and BAM! he's secret agent guy!

In case it lends itself to this discussion in any way, Krauser's Twitter page went up today sometime.

I do hope I'm not the only one lol-ing at the thought of him crouched on a stump in that forest updating it from his iPhone.

                      Lol.

Now I actually have a reason to stay up to date with someone's Twitter.

And yeah, that image is easy to visualize: Giving updates while he's ducking in some bushy area from a BOW with his knife in one hand and I-Phone in the other.

I hate to be the one to point out the blatantly obvious, but 6 years and a lot of training later...he is secret agent guy. I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about Leon's character change. I mean after the hell he went through in Raccoon, being shot, chased by all manner of horrid creatures, losing (or so he thought) a person he started to have strong feelings for, I think he came out of it well. His cynical and nonchalant attitude can be contributed to past experience plus the fact that he has been through very rigorous government training. In a nutshell, he has been there and done that. He doesn't let hard situations or near death experiences rattle him anymore. I don't know about the rest of you but after all that I would consider anything less than what he is now a degradation of his character.

IMO, I don't think RE2 and RE4 Leon are all that different. I can see little traits of RE2 Leon in RE4 Leon, enough so that they really can be considered the same individual. He's still fairly naive when it comes to Ada, for example, as he lets his guard down long enough for her to get the drop on him and take the sample.

Degeneration Leon, on the other hand, doesn't gel with the others.

To be honest, if we are talking about a character changing 6 years down the line I would think he'd be more like Leon in Degeneration, but that wouldn't have made such an interesting character to a mainstream audience I suppose.

I agree, and yes, playing as dull-ass Degeneration Leon would have made for a pretty boring RE4 experience. Besides, when it comes to cardboard cut-out boring action heroes, Chris fills the role quite nicely!

If you need quick access to an ironicly-placed rimshot sound to mock your friends, or a genuinely-placed rimshot to put your great joke over the top, you've come to the right place.
