Yeah, RECV had so much to do with the story. So much that Wesker hasn't even so much as mentioned the T-Veronica Virus and he probably chucked Steve's body while he used Las Plagas in RE5 as part of his ultimate scheme.

Resident Evil 4 is my all time favorite game, but...

+The story and dialog are utterly atrocious
+Wish some enemies were used a bit more, like Novistadors and Colmillos

Then there's also some things enhanced upon in RE5 that I would like in RE4, though I guess those don't really count as flaws.

RE:CV was a direct continuation of RE2 where Claire is looking for Chris. Remember the ending? "It's finally over" "No, I have to find my brother". RE:CV is Claire looking for her brother and the trouble she gets into along the way. It hosts the return of Wesker, the reunion of Chris and Claire and it expands, like REmake, on the original members of Umbrella. Irrelevant of what virus/parasite Wesker used in RE5, if you remove CV from the equation, Wesker wouldn't have even come back. The T-Veronica virus is going to be expanded upon in DarkSide Chronicles as well, so the fact that it doesn't appear in one game doesn't really support anything and seems like clutching straws. We don't know what happened to Steve's body so "probably" again doesn't support anything, and Wesker used Uroboros to carry out his final scheme and simply used Las Plagas as a bargaining chip to get access to TriCell's facilities to manufacture Uroboros. The Progenitor virus has a lot more relevance to RE5 than Las Plagas. The fact that Las Plagas were in RE5 seemed like a desperate attempt to semi-connect an otherwise completely detached side story to the series.

          I completely agree.
          Mass production? Ridiculous!

That and Capcom wanted cannon fodder enemies. Would have been nice to have a mixture of Ganados/Majini and the good old undead.

              Things I disliked about RE4:

-The story, not only that it removed Umbrella out of the picture in the intro... but it was... I dunno, not of my taste. Terrorism, saving the US president's daughter, too cliché. Also, a hundred years old parasite that survived underground?
-Ahsley as a character, she was annoying.
-Some of the locations were uninspired, like the island
-Ganados were boring, in fact most of the enemies were uninteresting, I only really liked Regenerator, U3, Verdugo and Colmillos.

                From the gameplay POV:
                - Ashley; it wasn't the constant 'Leoooon! Help meeeee!' that annoyed me, but the fact that one shoot from you, one touch of a knife, and she's dead. The girl can take tons of arrows in the face, can be slashed and mauled by monsters, but one lonely bullet from Leon's gun touch her and she dies instantly :/. I can't even count how many times I accidentally killed her...
                - the Castle that drags for sooooo long. It was boring as hell :|.

Other than that, I don't have really that much to complain about it. The game is fun shooter full of roller-coaster rides, great bosses fights (unfortunately, that's one of things that RE5 lacks :/), few puzzles (with the goddamn "Ashley puzzle" -- the first time I've played the game I spent about half an hour to solve it ).

As a RE game, however, there's more flaws: the story, Leon's & Ada's characters, too much over-the-top actions and, especially, that the player turns into hunter - in old RE games it was necessary to kill or even run away to survive, in RE4 (and RE5) shooting enemies is the main fun factor, and there's always enough bullets to kill everyone.

Yes let's applaud 5 for its terrible storyline and lack of consistency.
The only good thing about it was it ended the Wesker shit and now the next game can actually address the ending of 4.

At least RE5 tried to have a proper story. It was interesting, and a good attempt at wrapping the Wesker storyline up. Yes, they fucked it up in several ways and there were inconsitencies...but can you name a RE game that doesn't? I think even RE1 contradicts itself on occasion.

RE4's story was just plain dull, for me. I've said it before, but it's like they saw some of those saturday afternoon action movies and threw them in a blender. Invasion by parasites mixed with saving the president's daughter! And there's a reason you don't see that storyline in hollywood blockbusters all that often.

RE5's story wasn't good, but it was better than RE4's. That's my personal view, of course. RE4 may be a funner game to play but it's story is the worst in RE. But RE5's was a more ambitious story. It didn't entirely pay off, but I admire Capcom for at least trying to give the story a more exciting plot.

Gratz for not addressing any points I actually made in my post. I don't actually prefer RE4 to RE5 because I found 5 plain boring, and I don't know where you've suddenly pulled "Let's praise RE5" from my post either. My point was that the fact Las Plagas were in 5 does not make the game relevant to the series and was a half-assed attempt to make reference to a game which otherwise is not relevant whatsoever, and the point you made about RE4 being more important to the series than Code Veronica because Las Plagas were in 5 is absolutely ridiculous.

                      The game can address the ending of 4? What ending? Leon rides off into the sunset fantasizing about Ada (again)? Maybe in RE6 we can play as Leon preparing for their wedding. I can imagine the front cover already;
