  • What was the link between the Ashford and Birkin families that was spoken of in the Talking Evil blog?
    "I've got 100 cows."
    "Well I've got 104 friends."

    • Game's got a horrible translation that introduces several plotholes.

The Wesker mistakes, for example, were made-up by translator James Wilson. He claims that Wesker became a candidate as the manager of the "Umbrella Management Training Facility", while the Japanese version says he was a candidate as an executive at the company. Or another passage, basically two completely different meanings:

      Code:
      Japanese version:
He escaped the laboratory taking advantage of the chaos caused by the B.O.W.s running wild.

      English version:
It was thought that Wesker was killed by the Tyrant, but before he died, he injected himself with the T-Virus.
How that slipped past the translation coordinator is beyond me.

That was from the CAPCOM Europe Q&A with Kawata and didn't mean a link of the two families but rather the ties of the family members (Annette and Sherry, Alexia and Alfred).

There is none. Other than the fact that they're extremely dysfunctional.

Also, just an update regarding the audio files. They apparently can only be found on Hard mode. I just found one of them in the CV scenario, and it was in an object that didn't have an Umbrella symbol on Normal. Now that I think about it, the same goes for the one in Operation: Javier.

              • Another mistake: "Ingrid Hannah" is just called "Hannah" in the Japanese version and is voiced by Stephanie Sheh. She does sound very similar to the uncredited Hunnigan actress in biohazard 4 (albeit completely different from the biohazard DEGENERATION voice talent), but I don't think they're the same person. After all, they didn't have a problem to address her with her name in the movie, either.

                Code:
                [i]Japanese version:[/i]

Hannah: This is the first time with you, Krauser. I am Hannah, your supporter this time.
Krauser: Is it okay to tell me your name?

                [i]English version:[/i]

Hannah: I don't believe we've met before, Jack. I'm Ingrid Hannah. I'll be your support for this mission. It's nice to make your acquaintance.
Krauser: Are you sure it's OK to be using our names?

                    • I'm curious to know how you have access to the original Japanese text. I thought the game wasn't released in Japan until January?

                        • I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I think I actually prefer the "bad" ending. It's much more emotional and IMO suits the tone of the game more.

                          Anybody else feel the same?

                          • This effing game.

                            I'm missing:

                            -2 characters in Operation: Javier
-2 characters in Memory of a Lost City
-3 characters in Game of Oblivion
                            -1 enemy in Operation Javier
-7 enemies in Memory of a Lost City
-4 enemies in Game of Oblivion
-3 text files in Operation Javier
-1 text file in Game of Oblivion
-3 audio files in Operation Javier (though I just started playing it on Hard)
-1 audio file in Game of Oblivion

Don't even get me started on the items. I'm fairly certain you only unlock those by getting S ranks on the chapters.

One of the files in Game of Oblivion is...

The three audio files are of Sherry and Annette talking over the phone, but they only go up to Sherry getting to the police station.
Damn. That really breaks my heart. I'm so disappointed. Well, I'm looking forward to the Annette and Sherry audio files, but I really wanted a more detailed file about Sherry. Sigh!

                              Need to shoot moar crap.

Yeah, it's surprisingly hard, although I've really only attempted a couple of times. Last time, I died in Kendo's gunshop, and I'm fairly certain that's where the mini-game almost ends, so it shouldn't be that difficult to eventually beat it. I have a feeling, though, that like the "Secret Stage" in Umbrella Chronicles, beating it gives you no reward. :[

Pfft yeah. I don't know why they bothered with that one. As though it wasn't obvious enough in the cut-scene.

                              • Lyrics time!

Sleep my love as the trees above protect you from the dark
A great river will watch you as you dream until dawn
Sleep my love close your eyes and when you awaken
the new day will bring to you a bright new world

Sleep my love as the birds above do rest their weary wings
Let the rain play a gentle song to help your dreams sing
Sleep my love close your eyes and when you awaken
the new day will bring to you a bright new world

Ever so gently hear my voice
Ever so softly feel my touch
                                Always so gently I watch
So go to sleep my love
Symphonic backing makes this an even more beautiful song.
