  • The News Bot Christmas Playthrough Of Balls and Brains

Right so, with Darkside Chronicles just around the corner and waiting to finally finish off the series I am going to commence an all-encompassing, non-comprimising playthrough of the entire series, essentially non-stop (aside from sleep of course, though I should be able to roll out a fair amount of the list in only a day or so). Every canon RE game in chronological order. Here is the list thus far until Darkside Chronicles adds to it:

    Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles: Beginnings
Residetn Evil The Umbrella Chronicles: Nightmare
Resident Evil REmake - Chris/Jill (best endings)
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles: Rebirth
    Resident Evil Outbreak: Outbreak
    Resident Evil Outbreak: Hellfire
    Resident Evil Outbreak: The Hive
Resident Evil Outbreak: Below Freezing Point
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: Wild Things
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: Underbelly
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: Flashback
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: Desperate Times
Resident Evil 3 - Until Carlos gameplay
Resident Evil 2 - All scenarios
    Resident Evil 2 - 4th Survivor
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles: Fourth Survivor
    Resident Evil 3 - continued
    Resident Evil Outbreak: Decisions, Decisions
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: End Of The Road
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles - Death's Door
Resident Evil Survivor - Vincent Path
    Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X
    Resident Evil Dead Aim
Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles - Operation Javier
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles - Umbrella's End
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles - Dark Legacy
    Resident Evil 4
    Seperate Ways
    Assignment Ada
    Resident Evil Degeneration
    Resident Evil 5
All of them on completely brand new saves, so no unlockable items. Just raw, unfiltered RE-ness. Degeneration is the only exception in the list, being a movie and everything but I feel it should be included for completion's sake. Darkside Chronicles will also be incorporated depending on how the scenarios actually pan out. I would like to play it for the new scenes and stuff. I also have to still incorporate Outbreak and File 2. No cutscene skipping.

Anyone feel anything should be incorporated? I want to give the series a proper, complete send-off. I'm also considering having it all broadcast on Stickam or something. Please let me know if any of you would like this.

Another thing, I'm going for the best rankings possible with no saves (depending on the game) and no continues. Normal or hard difficulties only.

Now, anyone else up for it?

I did this in the build up to RE5 in the exact same order. Its a difficult task to stick to it what with work and all so i set myself the task of playing one title per night. I played each title on hard mode without saving and wanted to see how far through the series i could get without dying. Unfortunately i forgot what a bitch zero is on hard mode and got killed by the queen leech after running out of ammo. After that tho, i managed to do remake, 2,3 and umbrella chronicles without dying once so i was chuffed with that.

I would play Outbreak and Hellfire, Underbelly, Wild Things, The Hive, Below Freezing point, Flashback and Desperate Times before you start the first section of RE3. Then play the first part of decisions, decisions post RE2 and before Jill wakes up.

And if you are playing through this from a story standpoint, don't go for the best ranking and just enjoy the experience with all the cutscenes.

I'll probably do something like that (minus RE5 because I don't have access to the 360 at college) after DSC is released.

Sadly, that means I probably shouldn't touch an RE game come time for my horror game-athon on Halloween. If I did, it'd probably get too repetitive.

Are you going to stream videos of your playthrough?

If there is enough interest, then definitely yes. I'll have the Intensity Pro HD capture card by that time as well and I'll be eager to give it a thorough go-over.

Ooooh. Sounds VERY exciting. Just... when did it say DSC was gonna finish off RE?

Super Awesome idea. I LOVE it!!!

Yeah, you definitely have to work the Outbreak scenarios in there. But things get very complicated with so many things going on at once. There's really no choice but to play some things back to back but I like how you plan to 'split' RE3.
I'm curious, how will you play RE4/Separate Ways/Assignment Ada?

After the new PSP game you may have to do it over again...

I've often thought of doing exactly this. Personally, I'd also play the original between Zero and REmake, just for the hell of it. But a lot of people have 'planned' such a marathon. It's another thing to actually do it all.
I WILL DO IT... one day. It's hard when you have a job etc. I would need holidays to do it and when I take my holidays, I usually travel overseas. I really need to get seriously ill. Some sickness that requires me to remain on my couch for 2 weeks. That would be great!

Not sure, think I'll just do Seperate Ways after the main game then add in Assignment Ada since it leaves with the "WESKER IS GONNA FUCK YOU UP" ending which is a nice foreshadowing towards RE5.

I just assume it will be, haha.

I'm working out the scenarios for the Outbreaks now. Outbreak, Hellfire, Wild Things and Desperate Times, The Hive and Below Freezing Point I'll most likely play prior to RE3, thats where they *seem* to be in the timeline. Still working out Underbelly and Flashback. I want to be precise as can be.

The reason I'm doing this is because I have the time off work to do so, haha.

And yes, I will be doing a proper playthrough and not a single cutscene will be skipped. The whole no continues etc is just a bonus that I try to play by. No big deal if I end up dead haha.

I think Flashback takes place the day after Outbreak.
Underbelly seems to take place on the second or even third day, but its just speculation based on the level of carnage in the city. Its thoroughly sacked and no rescue forces (RPD, RFD, etc.) make an appearance.

                    That's quite an undertaking.

Sadly big chunks of that list I can't do. No Wii, so UC is a no go. I hear it isn't worth it though.

I'd personally not bother with 4th Survivor from RE2, 4th Survivor scenario from UC is (for me) the canonical replacement for it.

RE2 4th Survivor still takes precendence. Covers more of the sewer and is generally harder. I despise the Fourth Survivor in UC.
