  • R.E.D. Project presentation.

    Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. *pauses*

As the Halloween passed, we came up with the promised on the last night of October. *sight* And now we are (almost) proud to present you something we were working on for a long time. Not a game or a trial demo so far. For now it's only a technical demonstration, a test run of our engine wich is far from completion yet.

    So, here you go! http://biohazard.net-live.ru/files/demo/BTP-0.1.0-b.zip

In return I would love to see some comments from you. We know most of it's glitches and things yet unfinished or even untouched. No need to speak about how bad the animation, character models or room design is - it's all raw and unpolished. More important thing is how it feels and works. And don't mension the room placement - it's just random. Most of the rooms were put there just to be somewhere, and we even put a warehouse where an office is supposed to be. No need in trying to map thing out for there is NO solid consistancy at all for now. Just a pile of random rooms put together, ok?

A few words about our little project:
We are mostly from Russia at the moment (forgive my bad english BTW) and we are trying to recreate a BIOHAZARD 2 Prototype game in owr oun way - somewhere close to the original and somewhere completely different. The key thing about our project is that we are building a Game Development Kit usable for creating RE-like games easily in the future. If anyone is interested in our project he may take part in it - we need modellers, animators and artists badly. All we do is completely fan-based, so no payment ever. =)

P.S. Special thanks to Alzair for patience and given knowledge, yet not really used so far.

P.P.S. If you can't take life anymore - use X+D for suicide.

Download it but unfortunately I could not try it because my video card is not sufficient to support the game.

Anyway, it's a very good job on you! I watch your videos from youtube and really left me surprised! I wish him the best of luck in your project!

Same prob here too any chance of a DirectX version? when I ran it only the zombie and Elza appeared everything else was white and untextured.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

A known problem. In fact game has a few issues running on Radeon video cards. In most cases troubles of such kind are solved by completely deleting a video driver and installing a newly-downloaded one. But in case refreshing drivers doesn't help - there is no way we know to run the game normally.

We request you to upload a "Game_Log.txt" file so we could analyze the hardware data and make some corrections in the future. As far as we know it is fixable. You may also try a windowed mode - open "Game.ini" and change Fullscreen value to 0.

          Whats his youtube channel?
We don't have any. There is no video of our project that we made and uploaded - there are a few vodeos made by random people for some reason. May be we'll make an official trailer soon... We also will make an english version of our site in a while.

Same prob here too any chance of a DirectX version?
Not really soon... But there is a neat possibility in a future. Most of our engine uses OpenGL features and switching to DirectX would take a LOT of time indeed. But we already started fixing the Radeon cards problem. I guess the next demo comes on the New Year or so.

P.S. The game really ends when you insert a CD into the computer in Power Room.

I can see this being good when its complete. Shame you don't currently have the man power for it. I'd offer to help but my plate is full at the moment with my 2nd year Video Games Design university course. Keep up the good work.

Yes, we lack man power. There are currently only 3 people active and we need a talanted 3D-modeller-animator badly. Just hope we'll find someone sooner or later among RE fans or not. That's the main reason of PR'ing the project around the Internet in possible ways. Too bad I'm really buisy with both university and work nowdays too...

The game works for me and I must say good job there. The environments look nice.

That's really strange... You may try no unpack BTP-0.1.0-b.zip again or check if BTP-0.1.0-b\Data\Video\1.avi is there, but there is no reason for it not to be. It's the first time I hear of a problem like that. It may also be some kind of an issue with your codecs (K-Lite may need refreshing then). Please tell if the problem is solved by these measures, otherwise send your Game_Log.txt to my e-mail graads@gmail.com so I could dig some info on the current case. Thanks.

The link works fine as the file is located directly on our own site. If you have troubles downloading it then you should probably try some other browser or downloader. Here's the download page for it: http://biohazard.net-live.ru/downloads.html

Thanks, for some reason it wasn't working when I first tried it.

EDIT: Very nice job with the engine, it's been keeping me busy for a while.

Sorry to double post but are there any debug functions, or maybe a playthrough anywhere?

Yes, there are debug console commands, but these are for testing purpose only. Demo can be played through without any of them, especially if you make a good use of Glock 17 (10 bullets can be found in total) wich decapitates a zombie in a single shot. But speaking of a playthrough I can tell you where to go:

                              1. Starting at the main lobby make sure to pick bullets around the table and leave the room through a door by a policeman zombie.
                              2. In the corridor turn left and enter a door beyond two zombies.
                              3. In the basement hall make your way down to the very end and enter the white double doors.
                              4. It's a power room. Will become a saveroom someday... Pick up the First Aid Sprey on the shelf, the Gold key by a computer and a Fuse one on a red barrel next to the blue cupboards. Leave the room.
                              5. Make your way to the other end of this hall and turn over the corner. There are two doors and a zobie gouarding them. The right doors leads to a roo with a pack of bullets, but you may ignore them and just enter the door in a middle.
                              6. You'll happen to be in a firing range. Run across two zombies and check one of those tables for Glock 17, wich is your way through the hardest part of this hell. Go to the cupboard in the end of this room and collect the bullets (combine them in the inventory!) and the Fuse two. Leave this room.
                              7. Make your way to a black door you first entered. It'll bring you back to the first floor.
                              8. Make sure to avoid two zombies once again, or run around them and dismember their heads with your Glock 17. Then insert both suses into a panel on the wall to power the elevator. When it's done - enter the elevator (to the left from a ladder door).
                              9. In the elevator push button and select F2.
                              10. Go to the end of this hall and enter a blue double door.
                              11. Kill both monsters or run around them. You may pick an Aid Sprey in the bathroom if you need to. Then make your way to the end of this hall, pick bullets and combine them. Enter the door by this table.
                              12. In the chief's office make sure to pick up the pack of 5 bullets on the sofa and combine them with Glock 17 (you've run out of them by now, haven't you?). Make sure to pick a key from the chief's table, then leave.
                              13. Go all the way back to an elevator but instead entering it - open the door to the right and use it to go to F1.
                              14. Make your way to the very end of this hall. There are a few zombies around so use your Glock 17 to make things clear. Enter the white door.
                              15. Go to the end of this hall and enter a heavy door there.
                              16. In the storage room you only have to pick up one thing from the left locker. It's a CD. Guns aren't for you - sorry.
                              17. Go all the way back to the baseent and enter power room for the last time. Use the CD on a computer and read final notes.
                              18. When you're done - feel free to make a suicide or whatever you want - it's the end, and nothing else there is left to do.
