Oh he's still around, he just removed all existence of 1.5 from his site and has no direct contact with the public on the internet anymore.

He also has a YouTube page with videos that have comments either disabled or require approval.

I know the curator managed (with community help) to rip text from the game. That's how we ended up with the item list but did he rip any of the inventory pictures/ icons? I've always been curious to see some of 1.5s weapon icons.

@Vixtro: I never knew that Leon interacted with John in 1.5. I always thought John was Elza's support character. Placeholder? Did anybody do a translation?

John's model is a placeholder. Leon is talking to Marvin in that translation.

I wonder if the Curator is even a big fan of the series? I mean sure he could have paid alot of $ for it, but if it just wound up in his hands one way or another he could just enjoy the power of possessing something which no one else does. Hell I don't like mega man, but if I had a unreleased copy of it I would be mysterious as well. Although, if I did own 1.5, I think I would do a one night live stream playthrough for the fans...than never speak of it again.

That wasn't exactly much of a text rip, though.

If memory serves me right, he just used the item selector from the debug mode and took screenshots of each and every item name, then gave us the long list of names... which I seem to remember Björn translated for us (at least I don't remember us having any other translators around + Björn at least did translations for some of the in-game screenshots too. However, at the end he just distanced himself from everything. People were just being awkwardly stupid over the whole thing.

There was this typical fan-translation "0-day" behavior going on. Started by some half-Chinese guy (or something), who spoke crap English and supposedly knew some random Japanese (probably thanks to the sharing of kanji), who liked to pretend he was a master Japanese translator or something. He did some shit translations on the PSM Proboards, which half the time didn't even make sense. At all. Other times his translations were just completely wrong too. But people were all "HEY! THESE CAME FIRST AND/OR SOUND COOLER! I LIKE TO BELIEVE THESE ARE CORRECT! THEY ADD TO THE MYSTERY OF 1.5!!!" (Yeah. That's how stupid some people were. In one hand they get facts and in the other they get bullshit, they pick the bullshit 'cause it sounds "cooler" than the truth.)

Also, he admitted to not really being an RE fan, and also being totally clueless about 1.5, which is why he reached out to the communities for help with a lot of random stuff.

I remember after playing the original seeing screens for this in gamepro and being excited about the game and then upon getting it being shocked the game was completely different. This was on of the things that got me involved with the community to find out what was going on with the series.

Interesting. Did the Curator know/ confirm the build of the beta he had?

The whole incident sounds like a massive cluster fu*k. I do think, however, that judging from the Curators’ trolling attempts he had no intention of fully "revealing" 1.5 never mind releasing it. It's tragic really that he ended with a copy. He couldn't even play it well. Let's just hope that another copy appears before 2020.
