          • Yeah it sucks
But maybe I just crave some nostalgic gaming, the ps1 era was my favourite period of gaming it introduced me to so many great titles I'd never played ff series(especially 7),biohazard,metal gear solid and so on.
I just feel like I/we missed out on a big part of one of the most important series to date!

If any collector who has it wants to make anything off it, they should probably settle on a fair price and offer it up publicly. There's a copy moving around in Europe every few months it seems. It's only a matter of time, probably within the next few years, it hits the hands of someone out there who's gonna get it and upload it to the public. Value will go way down then, no matter which build it is.
Very interesting. I hope somebody will leak it eventually. There's gotta be someone out there that would want to share it with the public.

I'm hoping it will someday. It's strange that it hasn't but I guess we'll see someday huh?

                • That and I wait for the day when Capcom stops talking about RE5 and moves on with the damn series already.

                  Resident Evil Portable anyone?

I would assume the overall value of any alternate build would do the opposite as far as collectors go. The original source disc would likely retain a fair value due to it being the actual original especially if playable in any official hardware. Even if a disc image was released the original is the only version worth owning if your a collector. I have kinda wondered if the PSX unit in the Goromacida video was chipped to play backups or if the disc was an original PSX bootable.

                      1. Yeah, but it would drop considerable in value anyway.
                      2. You need a chip. Protos are on CD-R. On some systems, protos can't even be played on a chipped console, you need a dev/test unit.

                      • The original source disk's value would drop, no doubt. How much, I cant say, based on the fact its 1.5, but anyone who believes a dumped proto is worth what it originally was, original media or not, is lying. Its been seen again and again, that you just wont get the same value, bar a desperate collector showing up.

                        • Well we don't really know if the ones being passed round are pressed releases (official discs) as they could just be burned CDs, and if they are just burned CDs then a Release would just kill their value stone dead. Why pay lots of money for the leaked burned CD when you could just burn one yourselves for free and it would still be almost as official?

Trust me, they are on CD-Rs.
Official CD-R copied by Capcom/ their pres agency >>>>>>>>>>>> homemade CD-R.

Though I'm not arguing against your value drop thing.

Just to clarify what I ment. Of course if there is some kind of logoing or something on the disc that shows its a Capcom CD-R it will retain some value. If its some kind of generic CD-R, to me, it pretty much looses its value since how do you prove it was burned by Capcom? As it could just be a copy of a copy of a copy. Now if its a plain CD with the directors/Coders/Artist sig or name then it'll retain some value.

                                Ridiculous logic.
