This is the link to the thread on Bioflames. Sorry, don't have any pictures of the one on PS Museum.

Interesting. Did the Curator know/ confirm the build of the beta he had?

The whole incident sounds like a massive cluster fu*k. I do think, however, that judging from the Curators’ trolling attempts he had no intention of fully "revealing" 1.5 never mind releasing it. It's tragic really that he ended with a copy. He couldn't even play it well. Let's just hope that another copy appears before 2020.
No, Curator himself can't confirm the build, but just from his video and information, I've narrowed down a high likelihood of where it came from. As Dot50 described in the story after the incidents, we were going to purchase a build that was unfortunately sold to someone else just a month prior to Curator's review. This build was described to us as an "E3 build". From investigation, it is most likely that it was one of the playable discs that was present at the little-known Playstation Expo & E3 event in Japan between Nov. 2-4 1996. It's the only E3 that takes place during a timeframe where 1.5 was still in development. And it has been confirmed that Japanese journalists got to play 1.5 at the event. So it makes the most sense this is probably that build. It's not the final build, that would be from Jan/Feb '97. This one was probably pressed mid-Oct '96 (a couple weeks before the event).

That build is probably the 60%~ version. I classify it as the "4th Era" development build (out of 5).

Curator denies owning the disc himself and the owner of the disc is apparently not interested in discussing any info, so there's no real way to confirm anything at this time.

      • I don't get why they won't just release it. Someone could become a billionaire from sales with 1.5

That's just wishfully ignorant thinking, sadly. I used to think that way too. Why won't they just release it...

It's just not as simple as that, unfortunately. Most people don't really understand the collector/prototype scene and don't think of it as a hobby that it is. Most people want to look at it like proto collector = hoarder = attention seeker/power/gloating at having something nobody else does = jerk. And well, while there are some like that, I've learned over these last couple years it isn't so much like that.

Unfortunately, 1.5 became a holy grail beta. Not just within the RE community, but it's rareness and notability has made it become a collector item that even a non RE fan would be proud to own.

There's more that goes on as well. Friendships, trusts, money, ect. that is involved with these kinds of things. It's just not realistic or reasonable to just expect someone to just release these things or something, just because there's a fanbase who wants it.

Also, it's best not to talk about it like "it could make billions if sold". While everyone knows it is a high-price item, it still just doesn't help. The more it's described that way, the longer it will stay that way.

          • The only real hope is that it falls into the hands of someone who wants to release it. Collectors don't want to release it because of it's value. If it became something that was distributed across the internet, or even if a bunch of new videos were posted of it, then it would lose some of that value. Part of the problem is that the community wants it so badly. There's also the potential legal problem of distributing Capcom's property.

For us to play 1.5, it would have to land into the hands of a Non-Collector somehow, and then he/she would have to anonymously release it on the internet or distribute it to people like Dot or Alzaire.

Until that happens, Dark Biohazard is here to keep us entertained.

                  • Karui reminded me of something I was going to speak of a little while back.

Listen to the music in this video at 3:20, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qAlyZXJm8Y

Now listen to the "Fight With Monster #2" track from Marvin's 1.5 OST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeJZKL7CFEo, I noticed they have very different backings, if that's what you call it, I don't know musical terms but one of the main instruments used sounds different.

                      • To which Alzaire replied:

Nearly all of those maps are terribly incorrect and inaccurate.
                        Nothing really new sadly.

                        • Yeah, as Rick said. This was posted on Bioflames just the other day. I'll copy and paste my reply from there to address the video.

Nearly all of those maps are terribly incorrect and inaccurate. I notice some of them are old Black Crow maps that are very outdated and wrong. I will address them in the order they appear.

Map 1 - RPD 1F. This one is obviously wrong, as we have a legit 1F map already. The only thing wrong with this one however, is the middle room above the reception area is not correctly split into 2 rooms (probably interrogation rooms) and the 2 doors leading to them from the west main offices area are not present. Also, there is not supposed to be a door leading out of the west main office room on the northern wall.

Map 2 - Umbrella Factory/Packaging Facility outside areas. This map is grossly off in too many ways to bother typing them up. There is a accurate map of this area, thanks to the backgrounds available, so the map on this video is garbage.

Map 3 - Black Crow's Umbrella Factory/Packaging Facility map. This map is fine. It accurately portrays (for the most part, minus some detail mistakes) the outside areas and the packaging, management, and warehouse areas.

Map 4 - RPD 1F. This map is fine is for the most part.

Map 5 - RPD 1F. This map is also fine, except for the inclusion of speculated images location (Roy's location, the alignment of the stairs in the west stairwell, and the inclusion of a random shutter in the east hall that may or may not exist as there is no available footage of that hallway).

Map 6 - RPD 2F. Garbage map. Inaccurate and full of baseless guesswork and made-up areas and design. The scaling is also bad. And the outside front area that leads to the manhole is not shaped like that.

Map 7 - RPD 3F. Another garbage map. Highly inaccurate and nothing but baseless random guesswork. It's an old map though and outdated. The helipad is designed incorrectly.

Map 8 - Sewers. Door location errors and manhole entrance guesswork. The incorrect door locations make this map's layout inaccurate, and hence useless.

Map 9 - Sewers. Wild guesswork by the creator that is probably largely inaccurate. Some areas are also incorrectly designed. Coupled with map 10, which goes along with it, it's not very good.

Map 10 - Sewers. Wild guesswork again by the creator of the map. Some of the areas are from an old build and may not even be in the later versions, making the possibility of this map even more unlikely. One area is also not even a sewer area, hence also invalidating the design of this map.

                          • Perhaps it was a prototype map that another revised and finished version made?

None of them are real. Most of them were made by a fan called Black Crow and a couple of them are even outdated old versions that he has since corrected or revised (esp. namely the RPD 1F maps). He doesn't have the game or any official maps. They are just guesswork based off images and video.

Unfortunately there just isn't enough footage to accurately map the RPD or Sewers. A large portion of those maps must be guessed or just plain out made-up, hence invalidating pretty much any map for those areas (with the exception of RPD 1F, since there is a legitimate map screenshot from a magazine for that floor).

The only areas that can be accurately mapped are the RPD 1F, Umbrella Packaging Building/Loading Yard/Management Building/Warehouse, and the Umbrella Laboratory. Most of those are thanks to the fact we have pretty much the complete set of official backgrounds for the latter half of the game.

At first it was neat back in the day, but it bothers me now to see these kinds of things floating around. There are too many people that aren't as knowledgeable about 1.5 who are too quick to think the maps or real (or based on some kind of reality, ie like Karui's "Perhaps it was a prototype map that another revised and finished version made?"). It's why I won't post any of my own map designs anymore. Too much inaccuracy of 1.5 information floating around these days.
