  • So no love for the technicalities then

Though, I have to say, in the case of REØ, I really do wonder if the story was so... what should I say... Code: Veronica-ish at times (Singing In the Rain on Mountain Top Leech Man, aka. Marcus. Sure, the basic outline would surely be the same... but... like... did it feature the same amount of "anime/matrix/whatever" stuff?)

We've seen a lot of stuff from the train in REØ, but very little from other stuff, and I don't recall ever seeing nor hearing anything about that sort of stuff from the previews.

    • Same thing here Carn, when I think Zero on the 64, I think of the train segment, and thats about it.

      • Capcom shown us only the train segment, so gameplay-wise, we know only about this part, for sure.
But if you look at the artworks published in REØ guides and in Archives, you'll see that Marcus had the same outfit in both GC and N64 version.

While I am sure that the N64 CGI would have been visually more impressive, I think that their content, story-wise like, would have been the same I also assume that the GC cut-scenes were longer and that there were more of them, than in the N64 version - again, because the GC could handle more data than the N64.

        • Yeah. I get the feeling that since the GC allowed them to easily contain more/longer cutscenes for stuff so they, thanks to other advances in technology too, decided to add some additional "special effect extra vaganza" into the mix. Such as some "flashy/trendy" cutscenes (to match with stuff like the Wesker vs Alexia scene in Code: Veronica X vs the original version's take on the same scene.)

          • I don't really agree, look at RE2 N64...

By the way, so no one is known to have RE1 GBC? I remember that a long time ago a guy made some videos from that game.

Does anyone have informations about it?

            • I think Dot50 made the videos you are talking about. Btw speaking of zero on the N64 did this song make it into the final?

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

It's the main song that keeps playing. I love it. I haven't played Zero in a long time so I forget.

Anyway we should get back on topic of 1.5 now

When I look at RE2, I only see a proof-of-concept for the fact that porting a game to almost any platform is very easy if you know how to make the right sacrifices.

Ideally, you would never design a game from ground up with plenty of FMVs if you're using a (now primitive) cartridge based platform. The main reason they used the N64 was most likely to take advantage of the fast data access in the cartridge format to avoid load times when you perform the character zapping. Given the PlayStation's limited memory and use of a disc format, the same action would've required long and unskipable load screens of the "room change" type. To be honest, just like pretty much 99.99% of all N64 games, they were probably aiming to do everything realtime (w/pre-rendered backgrounds) and keep the FMV count at a very bare minimum (if any at all).

The GC version seems to've introduced both FMVs and the dynamic/animated background renders. The dynamic backgrounds would've probably had priority on the N64 if they were doing animated stuff.

                • Here is a background I made from scratch. It is an original area, and it was inspired by 1.5. I read up on how to draw in one-point perspective, as I haven't done it since High School art class. I would make my own RE backgrounds professionally, but I don't have 3DSMax, and I know that program costs a lot.

But as a practice attempt at my own 1.5 lab area, what do you think?

Looks pretty good to me! c2keo who is working with the dude who is working on "Dark Biohazard" created some awesome looking backgrounds and they look exactly identical to that of 1.5.

Are you currently a student of any kind? If so, there are student versions of 3ds max 13month licenses for like £80.

But did Dot actually make the video (assuming he has the game) or did he obtain the video from somewhere?
