  • Right, in-game cutscenes are not the FMV/CGI that's being discussed like you'd find in the intro and ending of the game. Cutscenes are present in the game, FMV is likely not on the discs, except maybe the final beta (if we're lucky), although they are pretty much confirmed to be finished and exist. But I doubt we'd ever get a hold of those.

The only E3 that has any relevance to 1.5 is the November 2-4, 1996 one that was held in Japan.

There's really not gonna be anything new to find about 1.5 from old material. Most magazines had the same things, and there seems to be maybe only 1 possible video that nobody still has found (if it was even a video). The only way we'd find anything new would be if some obscure, or foreign, magazine popped up that had rare or unseen footage - similar to certain German/Europe magazines that have exclusive footage.

    • @ OKei: No, no scans of the interview itself. I remember that Doughboy (my Japanese translator) told me that the sentence I have uploaded was the only one about 1.5, out a few pages interview with Imagica.

It must be hard to understand for Westerner fans, but really Japanese fans don't care at all about betas. Capcom released a few videos of 1.5 and 3.5 and as the Japanese fans are concerned, that's all they want to know about the development of these games. There must be a few exceptions, of course, but I am speaking about the average gaming population, which is a lot wider in Japan than in Westerner countries.

So yeah, one sentence about 1.5 (which wasn't even named) in a 2 or 3 pages interview...
It's the same than with RE Dash, when Okamoto said one paragraph about the whole game, out of a several pages interview about RE games.

        1. And what would that possibly be?

        2. Considering PAL stuff, German demos would be the place to look, as it seems they "often" recorded videos while playing review or preview copies. There is an RE3 video on a German PlayStation Zone (unofficial magazine) demo which seems to have been recorded by the magazine staff, playing a review copy. Sadly, the PlayStation Zone magazine didn't come with demo discs at the time RE1.5 was in development, I'm not sure if it was even published back then. I've found other goodies on those discs, like an SH1 beta map.

Other German demo series: Play Fun (there's nothing there), Euro Demo GERMANY (different to main Euro Demo series - I don't have ED GER mapped out, but I doubt there is anything).

So our only hope in finding PAL demos would be Euro Demo GER. Slim chance. Unless there are some obscure demos out there I don't know about.

France is another potential source (other countries just got the regular Euro Demo series).
There is an exclusive RE3 video on an Euro Demo FRA (not the same Euro Demo series as in UK, Spain, Italy, Australia etc) which came with the official magazine in France, but I have most of the other ED FRA demos, and there's nothing unusual on any of them, just the same games as on the regular ED series, only composed differently, and often in French.

There are some VHS videos which came with CD Consoles in 96, 97, an 98, which I haven't managed to track down. I think they were E3 vids. By what you said somewhere above, there's probably nothing on them, though.

So what did you learn from all that? There are three entirely different Euro Demo series and a shitload of other PAL demo series, and I'm working on a new website to cover all that.

I have a suspicion that there was a video of the third era (when Elza's first, crappy, model was ever seen) somewhere. But it's only a suspicion, I don't know if there really was a video or not. Probably not.

                    • I was bored earlier today + I was talking with a new friend of mine about some random stuff, which lead to me uploading a clean copy of the V-jump '96 presentation of Biohazard 2 (*cough*1.5*cough*).

So if anyone's not seen it before; linkety link

It's nothing new, but incase people haven't seen it; grab a fist of popcorn (you wont need more)

                      • '95 tape!

(Not 1.5, but would be nice anyway)

I have the 95 and 96 V-Jump tapes, are there Bio footage on 97, 98, or 99 (scratch that, I have the 99 tape too, no Bio listed on the back anyway)?

I saw it earlier today. It's great seeing the whole thing without the watermark.

I actually think that they announced this game way too early, which was about 20% complete (I read this percentage in an article I have from a huge collection of game magazine collection I own). This event took place in September '96, right? That's like seven months before its originally announced date.

Hey Carnivol, do you happen to have the tape with the beta BIOHAZARD 1 footage? There this one and it's nearly complete but it cuts off when Mikami is talking to the audience.

                          • I have that BH1 footage, I don't remember if it was on the 94 or 95 tape (probably 95). I'll probably be uploading it later.

Don't recall there being any BH stuff on the more recent ones.

                            • It's on the 95 tape, according to the back cover. Can't watch it as my VCR likes to eat magnetic tape and small children.

If the quotes and wink are some implication that I'm giving a hint to a video I have that hasn't been shown, then unfortunately that's not the case. I just have this feeling that there was a video given to the press of the third era (when Elza was first shown in-game, and has a crappy model) that hasn't been seen before. If it did exist, I don't think it ever made it on a public video demo or anything, which would make it extremely difficult to find if so. But it's probably likely there was no video, and only images of that era exist.

Biohazard 1.5 was first shown to the public on July 31, 1996 at the V-Jump festival in Japan. Work on BH 1.5 had begun shortly after the release of BH1 and thus development probably began in April, or early May. Before it's cancellation, the 1.5 version of Biohazard 2 was originally scheduled to ship in March, 1997.
