Not to mention being one of the best selling PS games overall, at least in Japan.

While I agree that perhaps RE2 had less shock value than RE1, do you really think that they wouldn't use the supposedly high violence level of 1.5, as you seem to suggest, as a selling point?
No, because Resident Evil 1.5 started production to early for the original game to have sold a million units. It was the realization of the escalating sales that made management consider the series a success after crossing the million unit mark, thereby quality control stepping in.

      • fujin78, most (if not all) preview copies with Bio Hazard 1.5 now in collectors hands. Why do you think someone will release it for free? It worth too much.

I don't think the article in the magazine specifically stated where that is taking place, but just from known information, I am pretty sure that is the playable 1.5 at the PS Expo & E3. Those kiosks also match the PS Expo ones, so yeah. I'm still not 100% positive if it was a semi-public/public playable demo or if it was fully journalist only.

In Silent Hill, you spend the first hours of the game killing naked zombified children.

                  • Well, I think for the rule to qualify they need to 1) not be created by a powerful possesed girl and 2) not trying to knife your knee caps out. And 3) look human.

                    • *Runs brandishing the original Fallout 1 US version* - released Nov 97

Kids, kids, kids. All viable targets and they aren't even zombified or monsterous in form.
Well to be fair the UK version got censored. All the kids still exist but are invisible.

                      • How the hell did I forget Fallout? You don't just kill kids. You melt them into a pile of goo with a plasma gun.

It's not the just the UK version, it's the European version. Then, a bit later the game was censored too in the US.

If you buy it nowadays on steam or somewhere else, there's a high probability that it won't contain kids.
