  • Resident Evil 4 -- unused or beta item

After playing a re 4 version with open degub,i found an item wich ive never seen before. If i remember right, this item is only inside this version, because in the demo and retail game i havent found this file..
here is a pic from the ingame:

and here is the item, thats inside the disc:

MY question:is it maybe a leftover from 3.5?A serum for Leon against his hallucination???

It looks like the jar of pills that Luis gave to Leon right before he died. Perhaps it was originally intended to be used whenever suffered uneasiness from the parasite inside him (similar to the malaria in Far Cry 2).
    Mass production? Ridiculous!

      There called barbiturates.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

Just looks like a bottle of medicine to me. Taking a leaf out of Silent Hill's book for health?

Well, personally I think it's pretty interesting. It's really got me thinking...

If it's the pills Luis gives, I'm wondering if they were tinkering with the idea of having a kind of virus meter (like Outbreak). If you play for too long without taking your medicine, then you start getting sick. And yes, they could have even included the 'hallucination' effects from 3.5.

It would have been damn annoying though, if there was a limited supply and you could run out before you finish the game. It would have added more tension and made the game harder but I wouldn't want to be forced to rush through the game with that pressure.
RE4 is the type of game I like to take my time with. I enjoy taking the scenic route, finding everything... and killing everything.

However the in-game shot shows the item in the 'Keys Treasures' section. So they could have had a totally different idea in mind. Like maybe just giving it to someone at some stage to progress or get a bonus item..?

Or maybe just there to show that you "have it". You know... like the lock pick and other useless items that for some reason takes up a slot and never really is combined with the "use" command.

Indeed. Every little stone has a story... waiting to be told. An epic narrative that reveals a better future that never will be. A time when all games will remain... uhm... betas... or something.

(Okay. Nothing wrong with digging around for canned material, but... yeah. Some stuff gets blown way out of proportions.)
