^ REmake's were scarier. They didn't need to tentacle rape me to scare me. All I remembered from RE1 was them biting and grabbing my arm... never expected it to leap up, shove me to the ground, and use my throat as its personal plaything. What makes it even creepier is that you can't see how disgusting it is when it tears out your throat, whereas in RE4 it showcases it just to get an "Ewww" out of you. You have to imagine how nasty it is.

The dog attacks have always been pretty good. I've been pinned down and had my throat ripped out many a time while playing the original.

In fact, the only ones better than the original IMO, would be the RE4 ones. There's a furious style of extreme violence in the RE4 dog attacks, which is a joy to behold. The way Leon gets mauled and shaken is just BRUTAL!!!

On a side note, when playing through RE4 just recently I was still kinda shocked at just how violent and awesome a lot of the death scenes are. It definitely has some of the best ones: The Dogs, the Chainsaw Ganados & Garrador beheadings (nothing says "Game Over" like seeing your character's headless corpse sink to its knees), the Iron Maiden spike attack and probably best of all is seeing Leon's face melt off after a Novistador acid attack!

Those are the ones in the hedge maze right? in the castle. I remember now, I've only played through that game once so couldn't think straight away.

You left out my favorite: the one where U3 cuts Leon in half with his pincers!
          Mass production? Ridiculous!

I only played through RE4 once on normal so I hardly ever died. This talk of the gruesome deaths though almost wants to make me play through the game again just to see them.. almost...

You can always watch them all on YouTube ;)

And while we're talking about deaths and RE4, recently I started to replay RE4 and I forgot how menacing Dr. Salvadore is. After several RE5 playthroughs, where the chainsaw man dance for few seconds before he cut your head off, I was really thrilled when Salvadore killed me immediately after he approached me

Colmillos were probably my favorite enemy in RE4. They made my heart race in the few times they showed up. I remember my first experience; the train of thought went like this: "Oh that dog again, what does he- he's growling at me?" *PPLLSHHGHH* "OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT?"

Unfortunately I hadn't seen The Thing before I played RE4, but if certain plagas elements weren't inspired by the film I'd be surprised.

Cerberi never scared me in RE. Most of the games allowed you to run past, and some even lay down for a substantial amount of time. Adjules were fuckers, I enjoyed their viciousness, but eventually the split-head just meant frustration.

That is exactly what happened to me! Fucking betrayal

And of course a little bit of The Thing is never a bad thing.

I agree with this - it reminds me of scenes from Jaws and Jurassic Park, where they don't show the violence - imagining what is really happening makes it more frightening.

Maybe you should try going at Dr Salvador on pro with the butter knife. So fulfilling when he dies.

Nah, I just can't bring myself to play RE4 again, it pissed me off to much because of how they turned the best survival horror game series into some dumb action "save the presidents daughter" bullshit.

No worse than saving Sherry in RE2 or Rani in Degeneration ohh and what does Darkside Chronicles have Leon doing talk about a typecast-ed character.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

yes but they were 12 and 8(I supose) respectly, even shooting a handgun they would hav efall on their asses. Asheley was 20 and when she was alone she could defend herself, why not in the whole game
